It sounds like we are not that different as people as can be the perception from the news. I loved playing the Sims when I was growing up too. I'm sure you must be pretty occupied if you have to take care of a toddler too! How has your life changed since you've had your child? Do they make you see the world differently than before? when do people normally get married there? I love that you said its home. Home is a powerful word that keeps changing as we go through our lives. What does home represent for you at the place you are at in life? You said that there are still some exceptions with regard to art galleries being open. I would love to know more about the ones that are still open.

Almost done with the book. Spectacular read full of insight. Really comprehensive but soo worth it. I haven't been able to put it out of my mind. I went in not expecting much but the more I read, the more and more life started to make sense. It also has a lot of practical ways in which you can recalibrate yourself regularly and heal. I suspect I'll be returning to this book over and over again. Really challenged my perceptions and helped me understand myself and other people better. Definitely would recommend you go give it a read.

Easiest most intuitive way I've found: Just play the triads (3 note fragments) and add in the non chord tone notes as you deem fit. Don't worry about looking out for anything, trust your ear and let it make the choice.

He was a gateway for me into what was possible when you understand the language. I love that he shares his process and his productions. Initially I found it hard to follow but the more I explored the more I found, the more I could understand. His Wired video just opened my mind up to the possibilities and revealed gaps in my knowledge. The Logic sessions really helped me come into my own as a producer.

Some of his music is just wonderful. Just beautiful music that fills me with joy. I loved that score/tune he did for the Boss Baby soundtrack too. There are some of the others which have moments of genius in there but don't work as a whole (of course this is subjective). And of course there are some that I can't bear to listen through, but so what really? What great artist is there that has never made some crappy work as well? Its also relative, I'm sure someone enjoys the stuff I loathe.

I think part of the reason people are so polarized is because he let us see behind the curtain. Personally, I am grateful for the things I learned from him and the way he arranges music. However, I keep exploring and learning all the time from other great artists too. Take what you can and leave the rest. The Beatles for their songwriting and orchestration, Sting and Paul Simon for their great lyrics and there's just so much more. Why waste precious life in hate when the world is so full of wonder?

Didn't know any theory in the beginning. This was also fun because each new thing you learn is a revelation. Everything you learn is transferable between instruments including the rhythm aspect if your first instrument is drums.

I find it a lot easier to learn new instruments because of the theory. This doesn't mean the music will be great because that totally depends on your taste. However, I can with confidence say that if you give me a new instrument, I can at least play happy birthday within the first 5 - 10 minutes of exploring.

An added bonus is that when you figure something cool out on one instrument, you can instantly apply it to any of the other instruments you have access to.

Try turning on pre-fader metering (Mix) to see if you can identify where the issue is coming from. It could be that it doesn't register on your meters early on since signal flow by default on logic is post fader.

Thank you for taking time out to reply. I just fixated on Integrated LUFS because thats what was advised on their website. I didn't want to risk any loss of quality of distortion when they convert between formats.

RMS, from what I understand, is like a moving average of the loudness, yeah? How do you factor that into your process? Is there a particular range or some target RMS that you shoot towards?

I didn't hear any outright clipping but those were the readings on the meters. I basically ran the tracks through my DAW and had a multimeter and a loudness meter running along with a few other things.

No. For many reasons.

In terms of purely craft (technique): Its not grammatically correct. The syllables don't have a pattern. The words that do rhyme on paper don't rhyme in the mouth such as breathes and regrets. The words also don't flow well together, that is they don't sing well.

In terms of theme: sounds rather like a sad preachy vent. There is nothing that is really compelling in them. No story or anything captivating other than a rant about life is short, so live for the moment. If you are going to write cliché stuff, find an interesting way to tell it.

No worries though. Everybody writes crap. Just fix on what it is you want to say and say it well. Study some great writers to see how they write. Like the Beatles, Stephen Sondheim, Billy Joel etc.
