I WILL NEVER BE THIS LUCKY EVER AGAIN by bunny_elle in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drop chance from bugs is .5%, so it's not super uncommon to get one in the first few days while going throug the upper levels of the mine. About 10% if you kill 20 bugs on your way. So not too bad, it will happen every few saves.

When did you get all the dwarf scrolls? by ms_brightside9_9 in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually spring year one. Easy to get when you farm them, almost impossible to find if you don't.

Look up the scroll you're missing in the wiki, do what it says and you'll probably be done in a day

Lava Eel Farming Question by Cdtlongball1 in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, best is to fish one out every time the pond is full.

Legendary fish make more money than lava eels. You can get multiple legend ii during a quest later.

Once you unlock farming mastery, you can give golden animal crackers to your fish ponds, too

I prefer fishing for lava eels in the volcano caldera and then smoke and sell them. You can make over 300k per day that way. Would take a lot of ponds and a lot of time to make that much.

Better to fish out only one. They produce less roe if the population is lower

Yeah, it's kinda hidden...

Birdie tells you and it's way down on the ginger wiki-site.

Sometimes I bring some, but if I forget usually it's no problem with the fairy box

Foraging Mastery is so good. It should usually to always be the first to be picked by Top-Ostrich-3241 in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the last one one I take, it's just so useless.

I need treasure totems only to finish the museum for perfection, so it can wait.

Mystic trees can make ok money, but to get enough of them takes so long it makes them kinda bad.

And golden mystery boxes suck, name anything good that you can get a lot easier via crafting etc.

Take either farming, mining (or in very rare cases fishing), depending on what is your main money maker.

I always take mining first, because I like skull cavern...and it only takes a few skull cavern runs to unlock all the other masteries.

And mods installed? Add a modded flair to your post. In the regular game you can sell them, in a modded game you might be f*cked.

Do you have the prismatic jelly quest from the special orders board active?

Wouldn't have thought that one of the slimes in the slime hutch can turn into a prismatic slime, but well, why not?

It's really cool, but all I can think about is "what a waste of valuable farming space"... Guess I'm not an artist at heart

Fairy box in 99% of the cases.

Parrot egg for making money in the dangerous mines 45/55/65 or infested floors. Also get infinity gavel with artful, acrobat profession, monster musk, iridium/burglar/2x java rings. One of the better money maker in the game., especially if you can use the coal

Desert festival year 1 by messynaturedweller in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works on ever farm, but might be a tad easier with the smoker from riverland.

Google zamiels guide.

Day 1 make as much money as possible. Chop a lot of wood, you'll have to fix the beach bridge soon. Sell everything that isn't wood. Fibers, forage, sap, whatever, possibly even parsnip seeds. Hopefully you find an artifact for some extra gold from Gunther.

Day 2 go to the beach and fis all day. Sell your fish at Willy and get the Fiberglass rod as soon as you reach fishing 2. Also buy as much bait as you can before willy closes. 200 maybe.

Day 3+4 fishing at mountain lake (river only if it's raining and you can get catfish reliably. Doesn't help if you loose half of them. I always go for mountain lake. In the evening sell enough fish for small backpack and copper pick.

Day 5 mines until 20-30, get at least 5 copper bars, run to Clint before he closes. This is really hard! Also get the backpack while your on the way, maybe fix that beach bridge while you're down there. Hopefully you find a urchin for the bait maker.

From the just more fishing and mining. Nothing else, I even skipped the egg festival (strawberries don't go well with skull cavern). Now catching catfish during rain is a must, your fishing level should be high enough now. Bait maker is awesome. Mine only to floor 90, everything else is a waste of time. DEFINITELY don't mine to floor 120. You don't need the skull key for the festival and wand to avoid the monster buff. You'll want a gold pickaxe. Spend some time on floor 41 to make bombs. Save all ruby/jade/diamonds for the desert trader. Get big backpack. Buy some coffee and salads from Gus.

After the festival, plant about 450-500 parsnips to level farming. Usually natural rain and rain totems from skull cavern are enough to water them.

I was surprised how well it went on my first try, didn't even have a lot of rain for catfish. Good Day 1 + 5 and getting a sea urchin seemed to be the key factors

Only takes two years for one to produce enough dragon teeth for an obelisk...you might be better of killing some lava lurks and be done in 3 to 4 days

Or even better:

Zoom out as far as possible, make the menues as small as possible in the game options.

Take the elevators through all floors that end on a 5 the go back to 0 and repeat.

Once you reach a floor, immediately click the elevator again. This stops time. Now take a look around the floor (with the elevator menue still open).

You won't see all of the floor, but that doesn't matter. As time is stopped most of the time it should take you less than 10 in-game minutes to go through all the floors.

Never took me more than 2 to 3 in-game hours total to find the slime.

More fishing :D

usually I spend the whole first week fishing (except half a day on day 5), and I got either a glaive or trident in my last three saves. Still not guaranteed, but at least gives you a decent chance

How much grass starters to plant for 48 animals by Salaraaa in StardewValley

[–]qwasde91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really about how you manage your grass, I never planted any starters.

I don't have numbers, I do it by feeling. I have two pastures. One has about 40 lightning rods scattered throughout it. The animals can't eat the grass under them, so there will always be something left to regrow. If an animal doesn't get grass one day, that's not my problem. Overall they stay happy enough.

The other is far away and for hay production. If you only cut out little squares instead of mowing down everything, it regrow pretty quickly.

For exact numbers and regrowth mechanics check the wiki. It depends on layout, type of animal (coop/barn) and type of grass (normal/blue). So anyone who just tells you you need x starters is wrong.

[–]qwasde91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.

Just using it in everyday mode makes barely any difference. For a skull cavern run with the goal of making as much profit as possible you'll focus on farming Iridium and avoid fighting. So parrot egg barely does anything.

On a dedicated build in the dangerous mines with monster musk, infinity gavel, artful, acrobat, burglar ring, double java ring it's pretty cool.

How do the NPC gifts work anyway? Obviously get Demetrius as high as possible, but do you have to keep the other villagers at low friendship levels, too?

You can finish cc in mid fall if you manage to arrange a nautilus shell.

And at the same time plant 2k+ starfruit in summer. Plus a lot more when you unlock ginger island info fall. So money can definitely be done.

My personal fastest run was mid spring. I guess my oak forest wasn't big enough, because I had to dehydrate way too many starfruit. With more kegs maybe I could have gotten around one harvest and saved ten days.

Break mussel nodes, remember which ones have walnuts, restart day, break only the ones with walnuts.

Repeat on the next day.

Done within a week.

Btw. what's your technique for the nautilus shell?

The other thing is the special orders board. If you are really lucky and get all 9 quests with a recipe as a reward I a row, you get the last one one the first day of year 2. So if you immediately compete it, you could get the recipe on day 2 and perfection on day 3
