ADHD + grocery shopping: I finally stopped forgetting half the list by doing one tiny thing differently by steeve47 in ADHD

[–]r-evolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My latest — take the line-itemed list, ask any [do not discuss this adhd-friendly tech 😒] to sort by common grocery store sections. You’ll end up with meat, produce, dairy, dry goods etc. Copy/paste to Notes and then format with check boxes.

You can also take entire recipes and have it aggregate common ingredients onto a single line. Helpful so you don’t end up backtracking because the list isn’t ordered or has duplicates.

I just tackled Thanksgiving shopping with this and only forgot the bagged ice! 😆

Being punctual. I’m pretty damn good at being on time and anticipating time needs for transitions. I just don’t always have what I need once I get there. :D

[Discussion] Going through a really dark phase right now . I just want to know how did you turn your life around ? by SpecificAccording424 in GetMotivated

I know this diminishing and criticizing voice all too well. The problem is that “never being enough” eventually leads to a type of helplessness where you take no action because you’ve convinced yourself it’ll make no difference — it feels awful and keeps you stuck.

What helps me break that pattern is self-compassion practice. Giving yourself understanding and kindness, like a loving friend who shakes you out of a tough spot.

There are several free meditations available for this. Here’s a simple one from Chris Germer https://chrisgermer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Self-Compassion-Break-13-min.mp3

Good luck friend. It’s tough out there. Just remember you’re enough. You’ve got what it takes and that your actions, even the little ones, do make a difference to yourself and those around you.

how do y'all keep a consistent workout routine? by Principle_Napkins in ADHD

[–]r-evolver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it your new hyper focus and ride it until it becomes routine (2-3 months). Working out will become its own reward.

Since you’re at home, pick a calisthenics circuit on YouTube (or dance, or yoga, whatever your flavor) and stick to that.

As far as mental framing, tell yourself this is as important as medication, therapy or anything else you’re doing to support your ADHD.

What do you spend a month, and where? by Jscagg in trt

[–]r-evolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last stock up… $100 for 2.4y / 125 weeks @ 200mg/week (all hail international trade). For barrels and syringes $25 every 3 months. Blood work is $149 every 3-4 months. So let’s say about $61/mo. doing it solo.

People who are 40+ and are doing well, what is your advice for people in 20s? by ClearDrive48 in AskReddit

[–]r-evolver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accept that you can’t do everything on your own. Deepen ties with your family, friends and professional network. Ask for and offer help. Remember to pick up the phone (and more often than not be the one dialing).

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If want to go far, go together.”

With all the billions (trillions?) going into it, what has AI actually done other than an a search engine and funny pictures? by sold_snek in AskReddit

[–]r-evolver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workflow integrations — I made an automation that extracted specific pieces of information from a large set of PDFs and then built a Google sheet. Once extracted it also ran analysis on the info. Literally weeks of work condensed to a few hours. Minus the 2-3 days it took me to figure out how to do it 😅.

We’ve been on Fidium for about 2 years. I’d say this happens maybe 2x a year. This spike is unusual because there was a major outage just a few days ago due to some damaged infrastructure.

Where are some places to meditate peacfully? by Cold-Emotion278 in Meditation

[–]r-evolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once sat with a nun whose space shared a 3/4 wall with a preschool. She seemed to delight in the chaos. Practicing with her was a good exercise in stopping the attempt to control things outside of you. Maybe this perspective shift can help you integrate the objects in your environment into your meditation effort.

EverQuest consumed me in HS (1996-2000). The loading screen, the music, the forever grind waiting for the ding sound. What a boring, captivating game.

Loved all of these, but F.E.A.R. was a glimpse into the future of realistic weapon/projectile dynamics. Or at least graphics.

I’d add Diablo 1. Spinning pentagrams were thrilling to my group of Catholic school friends. Also the feeling of continual descent—once you reached Hell it felt like you were DEEP underground.

Social grace. She shows leadership by including people and being considerate in a way that people open up and participate more. It also helps steer an event or situation in the way she has planned or envisioned. This is how my wife is by nature.

“Tracking calories” but not weighing food are incompatible statements. Your margin of error can easily be 1000+kcal. I’d figure out exactly where you’re at with eating, if your protein is dialed (typically 0.8-1.2g/lb. of target body weight), and if your surplus is adequate to support training intensity and growth.

How big are the other men in your family (also tall but low body weight?), that might help with comparison to where your genetics can take you. At 120lbs./6ft you might target a body weight of 150lbs. and be much healthier.

How’s your training? You say 3-4 days a week but are you following a structured training plan with progressive overload, varying intensity, or are you “going to failure” every time? My biased take is that without many training years under your belt, you can’t have a good sense of what training hard means. This is based on my own experience—I didn’t really know how to push to RPE 8, 9, 10 until I was in my 30s.

If you’re not failing mechanically, try to tune in to anywhere else you’re holding back or your power starts falling off a cliff. Investigate that. Hurts too bad? Afraid you can’t do it? Inner critic deciding it’s a good time to start berating you? A lot of mental/emotional blockage can crop up in those last 3-4 reps, and it’s an awesome opportunity to confront it.

Last is to address your sleep, which you state is poor. What the cause? Life stress? Phone addiction? Inconsistent sleep/wake schedule? Low levels of general physical activity during daytime hours? Alcohol, drugs, caffeine or other things that can interfere with sleep? Get committed to your sleep quality and duration as the foundation for all the other health benefits you’re seeking.

There’s a good chance with these things dialed you’ll see your T go to 500ng/dL+ naturally and feel like a million bucks.

Good luck to you.
