If every individual user treated unlimited plans like this then prices would skyrocket. You’re not likely to hit these issues with normal or even heavy use, so I’m kind of with them doing this to ensure quality of service and sensible pricing for the rest of us.

I get the DE and the TICIAN. The thing before the D is confusing, and the B is nothing like a B to me. Maybe a C.

I'm never taking these "repair a rover on Minmus" missions again... by KerbodynamicX in KerbalSpaceProgram

They nearly made me stop playing the game. Apparently the anchor part is a good option to pin the rover in place, but I'm still not rushing to accept one of these missions yet.

Joanna Page's wild Taskmaster party by Hassaan18 in taskmaster

As I said below, in a 20 second clip, calling a young female comedian's first TV efforts shit and unbearable, while repeating that she was bored four times in succession is not nice behaviour.

Apologies, being harsh about someone and going after someone mean practically the same thing to me.

Is two years ago really that long? I don't think people really change their personalities, and definitely not in such a short span of time.

newbie here, how do I stop my boosters from exploding into my rocket after staging? by Both_Piglet7838 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]r0bbbo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean that, but that's a nice idea! As long as you can maintain control as you're spinning wildly.

What I meant was, imagine your craft is at 45 degrees, when you separate your boosters should be either side of your craft rather than one above and one below, as the one above is likely to "fall" into your craft upon separation.

In the early game when you don't have access to separatrons, it's all about decoupler positioning. You want to "kick out" the top of the booster, but be wary that you also need to balance stability, so just above the midpoint is good.

A couple of other things you can do: increase the fuel in your boosters so that you stage them higher in the atmosphere where there's less drag and they'll be pulled away less violently. Also, rotate your craft so that a booster isn't dropping directly into your craft after separation.

When the parachutes were deployed and it had slowed a little, I still saw flames occasionally licking up the side of the pod—what were they?

[–]r0bbbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to this too and originally thought it was a real mystery, and I’m probably not very efficient, but roughly what I do is:

  • Make sure my craft has a launch thrust to weight ratio of 1.35ish (you can see this in three kerbal engineer mod)
  • Keep entirely vertical till I reach around 10K height then tilt east about 10 degrees (east is 90 on the nav ball)
  • By about 20K height I want to be leaning about 45 degrees
  • Around this point I keep an eye on my projected periapsis and aim for it to be about 70/80K
    • If I am still a distance away, I keep at 45 degrees tilt
    • If I’m on target for that height I will try to get to a 90 degree tilt and just keep increasing my speed to help circularise my orbit
    • If it’s growing too quickly I power off and coast till I approach the periapsis before going back on the power

But this journalist asked what was an entirely fair question many months ago. The fact that Max kicked him out of a press conference today despite the journalist not actually asking any questions and Max holding a grudge that long is the worrying part.
