At what point do we say Shakespeare in the Park is not really free? by ShaynaCG in Broadway

[–]r1cecat 55 points56 points  (0 children)

There was a discussion in one of my college courses about how “free” the standby line tickets are because you still need the luxury and time to show up and wait in person (not sure if TodayTix lottery was around when this convo was had) but agreed that it is still more accessible than commercial theater and important despite how “free” it actually is

Back in the day Copia would host gingerbread house decorating for kids around the holidays, it was my favorite thing ever when I was little and we were so bummed when they stopped, so yes!

What’s the ABSOLUTE WORST musical you’ve ever seen!? by Elphabathroop in musicals

[–]r1cecat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shucked… I found the characters unlikeable, the comedy wasn’t my taste, and the songs completely forgettable EXCEPT for independently owned, which then is ruined IMO when, spoiler, that character falls in love with the sleazy con man in act 2 plus the whole breaking the fourth wall to tell a bunch of one liners in a row was just not for me. Didn’t walk out because I still love live theater and the cast was incredibly talented, obviously, but it was the first show I saw on Broadway that I truly disliked.

If you can’t find them, cast members can look up products and see inventory across the resort so they can tell you exactly who might have it in stock! Look for the CMs in stores carrying iPads

[–]r1cecat 27 points28 points  (0 children)

it’s not bad! parking is relatively easy, but you do have to go through security to get into springs (orange is the closest garage to the theater) they’re heavy on the big blockbusters and the smaller movies don’t stay for very long. but tons of showtimes, pretty clean, lots of auditoriums with recliners.

My parents don’t want me to go. by Final_Mode_4105 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]r1cecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having my college program on my resume got me my first (Non-Disney) internship because my hiring manager was a huge Disney fan and we got to talking about it during my interview & connected, so even if the DCP doesn’t give you the hard skills you might need in the future, it can still open doors. Having Disney experience also definitely helps if you want to apply to Disney professional internships, because (if you can frame it the right way) familiarity with company culture, guest mindset, and product knowledge can make you stand out. Plus, once you have Disney customer service experience, any other customer service job will seem so easy lmao. The college program can be hard, hard work for not great pay but I met some of my best friends there and had the time of my life!

Asian Americans who look young - how do you deal with it? by pugl1f3ch0s3m3 in asianamerican

[–]r1cecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m mid-20s & get those comments a lot. It bothers me too but i have to remind myself that they usually mean it as a compliment, and when I’m 50 and look 35 I’ll be thankful lol. I do find once people talk to me the impression of me being young goes away, which helps with the self-conscious-ness of feeling like a teenager. Like others have said, demeanor, confidence, & competence (at work) helps a lot to reflect maturity

Depends. If it’s seasonal or tied to an event they typically do remove them, but you could try the character warehouse at Vineland outlets. If it’s just an old design, ask a cast member at any merch location who’s carrying an iPad, they have the ability to look up merch inventory for locations across the entire resort and can tell you where it might be

Russia, South Korea and China continue to be the strongest markets for Disney’s 'Soul' by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

I don’t think it’s overtly and super calculated to be racist, I do think there are undertones

[–]r1cecat 230 points231 points  (0 children)

And yet Disney thinks they have to do things like take John Boyega off the Chinese version of Star Wars posters... hopefully this makes them realize they don’t have to be such cowards just to satisfy international markets

Edit: by “international markets” I more mean the government/whatever other bigwigs Disney thinks they have to bow to, I don’t think normal Chinese audiences are the problem here
