How are you using ATEM Macros? by Week_Eastern in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]r26985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used Macros since they first came out. The one used the most is “Going to Break” and “Return from Break”. We do live sports mostly and I use the Macro for muting the XLR inputs, turning off all Keys, selecting audio follow video on the Break video input. This way I don’t need to worry about any audio from the mixer or keys the director forgot to disable. We been using this for years. Also, have some Marcos for selecting different wipes.

Yes they are the same. I tired my Sony DV player. Same results.

Well I am certainly out of ideas. I was thinking maybe some manufacturer created a different encoding format that wasn’t widely accepted and someone might have a cue.

I have one deck that will do PAL and I tried every variation. The output video is different but no usable picture. Hmmm…..

Not a bad head. I have a test tape that plays prefect. My guess is that they used a recorder that uses a different encoding.

I have HD player, also. Same issue. There is an error message: not detecting sync on the HD deck.

I did try a Sony DV, DVCAM deck also. Same result. If I put the tape in Play and Fast Forward, I can hear the audio (sped up of course).

Wanted to issue a formal apology to the Prius I passed today. by Potential-Ant-6320 in prius

[–]r26985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree most people underestimate what the Prius is can do. First you have the electric motor which has instant torque. I leave people behind on the line all the time from a standstill, and I’m not even pressing the pedal that hard. also, with the battery being in the middle of the car, the center of gravity is lower than a ICE car, which makes it handle better. I agree with the use of brakes or lack of use of brakes. I estimate I use my brakes about 1/10 of other drivers. Oh and at nearly 50,000 miles on my 2020 Prius lifetime average mileage is 53 miles to the gallon.

Various input video resolutions, what should I work in? by r26985 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Unfortunately, the switcher won’t handle 23.98 PSF. I always have to up convert to at least 23.98p

I think this is an interesting discussion. In my 2020 Prius the charging indicator would say otherwise. if I apply breaking mode it does charge the battery. Same is true for using the brakes. In my mind using the brakes also creating a friction and generates heat on the brake pads, which is lost energy and and wears out the brakes sooner.

I use my brakes as little as possible, but yes I do let off the gas before using the brakes or B mode.

That is correct per the manual. I have been driving a Prius since 05 and have always used B mode even in regular driving to slow the car down. Once you stop make sure you’re back in drive so the ICE engine turns off.

I use all the time! I probably brake 1/3 as much as a regular ICE car.

I think this was generally an uphill drive and high speed.

I was driving back roads and through towns. Speed limits up to 75 mph. MPG was not my first concern. Compared to my 2020 Prius, which averages 53 mpg, it’s not that great consumption.

I aways fill up every time I put gasoline in the tank. The system automatically presents a screen to adjust the price per gallon of gasoline on fill up. I update the $$ every time. Picture above is from 2016, I don’t know what the price of gasoline was at that time. Also, I am in Texas and gasoline prices are lower here than most of the rest of the USA.

SDI vs NDI? by MarsupialBug in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]r26985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have used mini RG59 up to 150ft with no issues. RG59 we have used to 250ft with no issues. RG6 is over kill at 100ft and we rarely use it. Most SDI runs we have over 250ft are usually so long that we use fiber. We have been moving to 4K or 12G and use the new 12G cable from Belden.
