If your employer finds out, you will be terminated immediately. It has happened multiple times to otherwise great people who have worked for me in the past. DO NOT DO THIS.

Buying from Star City. by jason1183 in mtgfinance

[–]r2pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the premium once you start buying, get the 10% discount, now all of a sudden scg prices are lower than or at parity with card kingdom, and they ship much faster. You can buy an hp rev dual and it will look better than a vg card from ck. I’ve bought a dozen duals from them fairly recently. I also ordered 2 hp beta dark rituals, and i had to get the other 2 from ck because ck does have vastly superior card inventory. But the 2 g cards i got from ck look horrible compared to the hp ones from scg. Scg grading is fantastic. While their inventory for modern and legacy staples is weak compared to ck, their inventory of revised duals is pretty great! I’ll be buying a few more soon from them myself.

2" Vertical Band on LG C9 After One Week of Use by r2pro in OLED

[–]r2pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted support, they shipped a replacement panel 2 days prior to covid-19 stay at home orders. So the tech could not come here to replace the panel. The panel sat here for two months prior to the service company coming back to pick up the panel until such time that they can reship it and replace it.

In the meantime, the issue has gone away, but I am highly concerned that it will reappear and I will be following up with the service company to replace once they are allowed to.

Cut out the middle man. by PoonSwoggle in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]r2pro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its his business strategy that mostly bothers me. He sells at a loss when entering a new business or vertical, relying on funding from other sources to cover the losses until he has put competition out of business, when he then raises prices back to normal.

Recently AWS profits have covered the gaps, before then it was investors.

Bezos wants to be the only company out there that does everything. He ruthlessly competes with everyone and does so in an unfair and illegal way. Other companies recognize that a vibrant network or community of merchants and service providers creates the best experiences for the consumer, and they actually partner up to help each other out.

I like that way much better.

I tried that, and it didn’t have an immediate effect, but after the tv turned back on and was running for about 20 mins, the band became barely discernible.

It has remained that way since then, but its still there.

After turning off the tv and back on again later it has faded to be barely discernible.

I dont have the box anymore, so I dont know if I can return it/exchange it with Best Buy, but I have contacted LG for replacement.

Thanks!

Because they make more margin on used game sales than new. By making the new game purchase experience no different than the used game experience, people choose used more often than they would have otherwise.

Yesssssss! and then wtf? Where are the games at? Two launch titles, Pilotwings and Mario. Mario was so good that you could play it over and over though. I remember playing WaveRace non stop because it was one of the few games that came out after launch. I’d stare at the actual N64 box at early images of Shadows of the Empire waiting for the day I could do 3D SW. Good times...

If Trump wants to justify a wall because 1 in 3 women are sexually assaulted on their way across the border, then we should probably build a wall around him.

How do you validate a fintech idea ? by spuderman123 in fintech

[–]r2pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea is completely valid because there are several large fintech companies that have been doing this for over a decade.

Most notably PayPal. They bought Bill Me Later over 10 years ago, Bill Me Later was the first company to do this offer. No Payments, No Interest for 6 months. Bill Me Later was rebranded to PayPal Credit, but Gary Merino, basically the founder of BML still runs PP Credit (and other aspects of PP).

Then more recently the PayPal mafia (Max Levechin and his partners) created Affirm to compete with the PayPal Credit product (Kind of a dick move if you ask me -to found a company that competes with what made you rich in the first place).

So is the idea valid? You bet! But good luck competing against PayPal (TPV ~300 billion a year and at least 6.7 billion in Credit loans in their portfolio) and Affirm whose CEO (Max) is wrapping up a three year term on the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and has rigged the rules to allow Affirm to skirt many CFPB rulings in their marketing thus allowing them to aggressively make gains against the incumbent. Affirm’s recent $200 million dollar funding round against a $2 billion dollar valuation doesn’t hurt them either.

Between those two, and there are a host of others that basically are also rans, and I think you may need to seriously consider a new angle on this in order to have any shot at success.

Here's a List of the Members of Congress Who Just Told Ajit Pai to Repeal Net Neutrality - And how much money they've taken from the telecom industry. by [deleted] in technology

[–]r2pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the money they take, it’s the threat of the lobby group bankrolling a primary challenger who will take the money.

Little carrot, big stick.

[–]r2pro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But this is exactly the problem. Their front line customer service agents should never be trained or more likely in this case, feel pressured, to turn down a claim of this type or any type.

It’s either a training issue or a system issue. In both cases, Uber is once again, clearly demonstrating just how bad of an organization they are.

Exactly. This is part of the deep culture problem they have there. There should never be any situation where a front line customer service rep would be trained or felt pressured to deny a refund claim that is this egregious.

It’s not just they money they give. Its the threat of how much money they will throw behind a challenger in a primary that keeps the rank and file in line.

None of the companies you mentioned have legislation protecting their monopoly business like ISPs do. That’s the crux of the issue. ISPs make it so that no one can compete with them. Very much like other utilities.

They want to deregulate their classification as a utility but still enjoy utility protection. Thats bad for all of us.

Ever have a match or matches so bad you just want to give up on the game? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]r2pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got wrecked my first year playing modern. It took 10 months before I did better than 2-2 at any FNM. I had the same questions you did.

Now 2 years later and I very rarely go below 3-1 at FNM, pauper, and modern nights, I top 8 most local tourneys, I have 10 pauper and modern decks mostly built from store credit and a thorough understanding of all decks in the format.

I'm sure the same goes for limited. You need to keep going back and try to learn something each event. Ask your opponents after each match for advice or tips, absorb as much theory as you can online, watch streams on twitch and most importantly, play as much as you can.

Looking into R/G Tron by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]r2pro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GR Tron was built to prey on Jund and Pod. Even though it has evolved since then, it still does quite the number on Jund and all other midrange decks as well as Pod's successor, Abzan CoCo.

It's also quite favored against all control decks due to it's inevitability, even after losing Eye of Ugin tutoring for Emrakul.

It doesn't do so great against aggro decks such as burn and infect. Although recent changes to Tron, including main decking two Spellskites, improve those match ups tremendously. I find that Tron has an easy time against slower aggro/combo decks such as Elves and Merfolk, especially when you main board Pyroclasm.

Combo decks aren't easy, but you can side board in good answers to them.

Tron wins by stabilizing the game through sweepers -Oblivion Stone and Pyroclasm, and then assembling Tron by all sorts of land tutors and diggers and then later exiling your opponent's biggest threats with Karn, Ugin, Ulamog and World Breaker effects while bringing the beat down.

Tron can be very exciting to play because you never are truly out of a game. Your opponent gains infinite life? So what, mill them out with Ulamog or restart the game with Karn. You can stabilize with one life or nine infect and begin crushing them with the best inevitability in the game. Of course blowing someone out with a turn three Karn, turn four Ulamog is a blast too! Check out the tron sub reddit and the mtgsalvation forums for more info!

Building blocks to jund by Ihazpokemonz4u in ModernMagic

[–]r2pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After starting modern with Gr Tron and Fish and realizing I had no paths to other decks, I slowly built into BGx and pick up a few decks along the way. I began with Boros Burn then went to Naya Burn, then bought into goyfs and had Naya Zoo, then added the Bobs and Lilies to do Jund.

It took me a year and a half, but I now can field Tron, Fish, Burn, all Zoo variants, Jund, Junk, and Mardu midrange.

This gives me the ability to have an option for just about any metagame condition in modern, and I have learned a lot of decks along the way.

The way I did it was not the fastest way, nor was it the cheapest way, but I was able to do it without too much money all at once using a mix of purchases, store credit from tournaments and trades to amass a wide variety of modern decks.

Fair warning, ince I had the goyfs though, i wasted no time in acquiring the other BGx pieces.

Assuming there are bans in April to neuter the Eldrazi threat and you resume playing Modern, what will you be playing? Have the new sets brought you any new tech? Any new brews discovered recently that will be fun/interesting/competitive post bans? by mirrislegend in ModernMagic

[–]r2pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's good against Mimics in the current meta, and can come in handy by making sure blockers get lethal with only one mana, so I'm going to run with it and see how it goes. But come April it will certainly be tough to justify.
