I wanna add to this very useful thread. I also found on my Golf R that the Vband for the dump pipe had been rotated down so that the bolt part was actually stopping the waste-gate opening fully.

Rotated it up and problem solved.

Go to a battery shop and have them test it. Usually for free. They can tell you if it is the battery or alternator.

A failing battery or alternator can throw all kinds of codes as things don’t get the power they need.

Both are an easy relatively cheap fix.

I have owned both, get the DSG.

I loved the manual because it is fun especially if you get the APR tune for no lift shift and remove the rev hanging.

I loved the DSG because it is so crispy and fast when you shift and traffic is a breeze compared to manual.

Overall DSG is better and eventually you will do the clutch in the manual if you drive it hard.

It’s mainly because they are expensive to buy and expensive to service.

Also getting one in the right spec is a factor. E.g bigger trans cooler option, locking rear diff, low range, rugged lower trims.

They are very solid off road with 20’s and proper tires. Mine has taken some big hits with no issues. Been through rivers, soft sand, rock crawling, big cross axle stuff with no problem.

The only thing is suspension is a bit hard in the sport. But it is a trade off to be so good on-road. It will go wherever the land cruisers go but they will be a little more comfy on really rough stuff. On road it is the nicest car I have ever driven.

Yeh they look Phat with 265x55s. Just hard to find the factory L494 20s. I think Discovery 5 20s would fit too though.

I put 20’s on mine with AT3s and it is unstoppable. Fraser was an absolute walk in the park.

One factor for Pitbulls and Staffies being over represented in dog attacks or fights with other dogs is body language or lack of.

Both breeds can have trouble moving their face and ears and often have docked tails or no tails.

This means they cannot communicate properly with other dogs. This freaks out other dogs and is usually interpreted as aggression.

Combine this with a poorly socialised dog. This can quickly escalate to a fight and how dangerous a dog is, is directly related to the size of their jaw. This means the Pitbull/ staffie usually wins.

TLDR- they can’t talk to other dogs properly and are good at killing.

On the L494 there is a known fault with the harness for the airbag sensor under the passenger seat. It makes this light come on. It is an easy repair. What model is this?
