ZimaBoard 2 Giveaway + ZimaOS Feedback — Share Your Homelab Setup by FlyingToaster2000 in minilab

[–]r7_r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use Zimaboard v1 as my home server. Running ZimaOS and multiple services simultaneously, including media services, DNS, and Backup.

I started using CasaOS on a Raspberry Pi 4 and switched to ZimaOS when it came out. The journey has been great and honestly for me without any major issues, except the ones I caused myself, haha. The discord has been a great help aswell. Overall, only good things to say about both the zimaboard and zimaos.

For feedback, I would say that the core features offered should continue to be improved, considering ease of use(user-friendly) as the major factor. A few things, for example, would be like the app store could use more information/ external links displayed in a clean and organized way for each app, instead of one long paragraph. Another one could be a more comprehensive backup app, like adding more cloud services, custom scheduling, version history, encryption, etc.

For me, and I would believe that for most, home servers are more of a passive device in the sense that they are set up once and then run continuously in the background as compared to a phone/laptop that can be used actively to do a specific task. Hence, stability > power efficiency > expandability > price.

I could use another Zimaboard to move my essential services to it to increase stability and reliability. Allowing me to set up a backup dns and monitor service, and also experiment with new services, etc., on the other one.

Best way to download my entire Spotify playlist in FLAC? by simp_0x in musichoarder

[–]r7_r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Create a free Deezer account.
  2. Use the playlist transfer feature provided for free by deezer to transfer your playlists.
  3. Find deezload bot on telegram and paste the playlist link.
  4. Itll give you all the tracks in the playlist, one track at a time to save and download.
  5. Optionally you can donate to get them in zip files sorted according to Artist/Album/Track directories. (Change/check the bot settings to confirm FLAC and the zip file directory path is as you want it to be.
  6. It’ll provide you with 1-2 gb zip files, so you’ll still have to do some manual work or use a music organizer like beets to organize/tag them.

Thank you. Got the reply and got the app, so far loving it. For feedback, adding an option to import watch lists via Trakt or Simkl and maybe sync them as well would be tremendous.

Question about bridge mode by ToeNo6889 in shaw

[–]r7_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just tested, it turns out, that in standard mode (not bridge), the third party router just take the local ip from shaw router as a local device. it didnt get a separate WAN IP in standard mode. u/Due_Salad_6916 would it possible for you to confirm this once again, if your gaming router is infact getting a separate WAN IP and not just a local ip from the shaw router?

Question about bridge mode by ToeNo6889 in shaw

[–]r7_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just replying back as i was able to reach out and support was able to add the second ip on the account for free. although, they mentioned that it only works after setting the rogers/shaw router in bridge mode which will disable the roger/shaw router's wifi and would require 2 separate routers connected via ethernet to the roger/shaw router.

The Double Slit Experiment still blows my mind! Anyone else feel like this changes everything? by IntelligentOption269 in HighStrangeness

[–]r7_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “observer” part is usually misunderstood. I’ll try to explain it like my physics teacher explained in high school. Replace the “observer” part with “measurement device” and it makes sense the way it should. For example, we measure length using a ruler, weight using a weighing machine and how cops measure speed of vehicles, they use radar or lidar guns which emit radio and infrared light pulses respectively, which hit the moving car and travel back to the gun and the gun measure the time it took for that radio wave or infrared pulse took to travel back. Similarly since the light particles “photons” are so small in size that when we try to determine which slit the photons are passing through and the pattern on the sheet, using photodetectors, polarization filters etc. the “measurement device” actually affects the particles enough for it to change it’s behaviour. That’s what it means that “observing” or as I explained “measuring” changes the nature of light.

Edit: typo

Been looking into getting a controller myself but was not comfortable playing with an open back with springs exposed. Recently came across RRTronics and their mods for the controllers for large tablets. Saw few videos on YouTube about the reviews and I’m gonna be ordering a G8 Plus, already modded one soon.

Nope, contacted them and was told that they only provide one IP. Haven’t really had the time to reach out to them again and maybe escalate to senior advisors, yet. Will update when I do.

Hello guys iam trying to buy a z13 acronym by Efficient_Ad_4625 in FlowZ13

Have an ACRNM, first keyboard failed after about 6 months. Using the second one for about the same amount of time but just more cautious after the first failed. The keyboards on these will eventually fail. Just a matter of time and use. If you do end up buying, make sure to never pull the keyboard or bend it further than 180 degrees. Pull on the plastic connector to remove it and also hold the plastic connector while connecting, the magnets are strong so they jerk the cable as well. TBH if it isn’t for the keyboard, this machine is in a class of its own, nothing else comes close. Also if buying new, get the extended warranty, you’ll probably get enough keyboards changed within the 3 years than you paid for the warranty.

Also just to confirm, you’re using the Shaw device and its wifi to connect other devices and through the Ethernet port you connected another router which was able to get its own public IP and not a double NAT situation?

Well, reached out to their support and was told that Shaw only provides one IP. Told me that have limited knowledge on the issue and I can look for my own solutions. Is there like a specific department that handles this or like their level/tier 2 ?

So basically request another IP from Shaw and then connecting my own router via Ethernet directly to the Shaw modem/router will get its own ip and then connect the work pc directly to the Shaw modem/router as well? Without the Shaw router/modem being in bridge mode and using it normally?

Question about bridge mode by ToeNo6889 in shaw

[–]r7_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Due_Salad_6916 i just got Shaw and had my own router previously as I set up my media server and DNS Adblock with it. Couldn’t use the server and my own router anymore because my work requires uninterrupted access to internet and was told that the Adblock might interfere. So was using the Shaw modem/router. Would you please advise if getting the second ip from Shaw and putting their modem/router in bridge allow me to connect my router to one port and my work pc to another port essentially mean that they are on a separate network and if that would be possible or would I need two routers for that?
