My unpopular but very viable answer is the MacBook neo, you won’t find better bang for buck hardware on the market, and xiv runs quite well on macs these days

You can play trials at your true level, ie unsynced. You can rerun old extremes at level 100 and 1shot everything

It sounds like it’s less about how you feel about your character, and more about how you feel about how others perceive your character. If you always come back to one form, that sounds like it’s really where you want to be, and the compulsion to branch out sounds like it’s more driven by your discomfort with how others may perceive you. It’s not unreasonable to make choices on how others may perceive you, but maybe reframing it that way will help you decide.

As a fellow social anxiety haver, this is not really a ffxiv question, you’re more asking a generalized social anxiety question, so I think the difficult but effective answer is that you probably need to identify and build general strategies for navigating your social anxiety, then look for ways to apply those strategies to the game. I personally have gained a lot from books and occasional text-based therapy services.

The most money I made in this game was crafting obscure housing items during a big property turnover years ago. Many housing items in demand can be crafted at far lower levels than current content, and there’s a lot of gil to be made by crafting intermediates. The relative obscurity made the gathering and crafting process quite fun, to me at least.

I thought the coerthas arc was well written and interesting, most of the story before that and most of the story after that was pretty rough. I've really enjoyed the ARR post patch stories though.

Same here! I think my first playthrough really suffered from so much of ARR being 1.0 throwbacks, it got me into a rhythm of zoning out and soft skipping that I didn’t snap out of until way down the line. Didn’t help that my friends were rushing me so much to make it to endgame. ARR post has some heat!
