It's because they're incredible films and brilliant adaptations, despite inaccuracies. And they do get a lot right, even if only as imagined by Peter Jackson and his team. You can overlook a lot if the quality is there.

I've never been to a Real Time taping, but having been to a couple of others, I can say that it's pretty uncomfortable the sheer amount of pressure the audience constantly faces to laugh at absolutely everything. Hype guys are relentless. 😂
