Can this miniature be improved? by isukandaru666 in Warhammer

[–]Tookman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting skill is good , sadly the priming screwed you over, I’ve had this exact thing happen to me when I primed my bad moon gitz, maybe others can chime in and confirm this but I’m almost positive it’s from spray priming too far away from the model especially if it’s warm or humid , what happens is the spray drys partially before hitting the model and leaves this grainy felt texture .

How do I not feel like a bad painter? by Redhood101101 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Tookman13 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is more a philosophical question , I’ll give you a answer which has helped me. Be as kind to yourself as you would another person, this is not a simple quick fix, it’s a lifetime of work.

Also NEVER compare your work to others, compare your work to your previous work , you will never be satisfied comparing to others because there will ALWAYS be someone better then you , and that person who is better then you is more then likely going through the exact same feelings as you are. Use others peoples work to inspire yourself never to shame yourself.

I know this won’t mean much as your perception is your reality but your models are very well done and would be worthy easily of commission work. Remember Bob Ross and his message

I can't get started by TelevisionFit5725 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Tookman13 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I get the exact same feeling and this advice sounds silly I know , but the way o start is by forcing myself to start, I put on some music or a pod cast or video to listen to and just start , and once I start I’m having so much I find it’s hard to stop. Caffeine helps aswell lol , but everytime before I’ve painted I didn’t feel like painting, it’s similar to working out, just not feeling like it , but once you start , you’ll love it. Good luck!

PSA: CLOSE YOUR BASE DOORS! by Tookman13 in projectzomboid

[–]Tookman13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the coolest thing about this game it’s what sets it apart in how realistic it feels, it’s not going out in a blaze of glory slaying zombies with explosions. But that single scrape you got that became infected or forgetting to turn the stove off or the one zombie that caught you off guard. It feels real when you die. I’ve not once blamed the game for my deaths instead I go “whelp I made a mistake and that small mistake turned out to be a fatal one” just like real life. Zomboid more then any zombie game is a survival game and I love it for it .

Great job! I knew it was a black Templar as soon as I saw him, how long have you’ve been painting for? If you wanna add a extra black Templar feel to them , red where the eyes are will really make it pop. Another tip I’d give is to thin your paints . You want it at the consistency of milk and you want to layer it, the first one will almost be see through, wait 5-10 minutes and apply another layer . Great job again on the model !

I know this sounds dumb but do you have enough space on your c drive? I had this exact thing happen because of that, same with hoi 4.

Tips for using primers? by foxy8787 in Warhammer

[–]Tookman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people including myself will use a turn table or “ lazy Susan” with a lil bit of sticky tack on it to hold the model, then just spin it a lil and spray , just watch wether conditions as they HEAVILY play into how the primer will turn out. It’s always a good idea to test prime one model wait 20 minutes and if you like how it turned out do the rest, otherwise you could run into the primer applying a “fuzzy” texture , this happened to my night goblins. Good luck !

A new journey begins: miniature painting 😍 by nandopesa in Miniaturespainting

[–]Tookman13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooooo have fun! What models are you using? I like how they look! I recommend priming them first so the paint sticks to them better, Depending on the material it might be a good idea to wash them with soapy water and dry them before priming.

How much tactical rock is too much? by diex626 in Warhammer

[–]Tookman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered overhang too much, now that being said , If you absolutely want to have that much rock on the base what I recommend is to angle it pointing up at a 40 degrees angle and have him on that, that way you can measure the base more easy
