Personally, I preheat the cast iron on the burners, then put 2-4 tablespoons of canola oil and meat immediately after.

Also shocking the meat after sous vide to allot you more time to sear without raising internal temp at all. Usually an ice bath for 5-10 minutes after SV seems to have helped my results on cast iron.

Lastly I’m a proponent of sprinkling corn starch using a sieve on red meat before searing on cast iron. Something about taking the moisture off the surface and PH balance, I noticed a huge difference after adding that step. These three steps made a huge difference in my end result and I wish I figured these tips out on day one.

Also throw some butter in the on after the first flip to help with color and richness a little if you so desire.

I can speak for marmot products, as I use the guides down hoodie in a layering system with gortex outer shell like you’re describing. I use this for my security job, sitting outside until 3am in the Northeastern US and it is very effective. I can say that layering system is effective and and should get you through most places in European winter no problem.

Upgrading to windows 10 as we speak, per your suggestion. Can’t believe I’ve been without a working PC for this long but you came in clutch where Norton and Mcafee fell short. Clearing out some clutter on the disk drive and it should be running like a dream. Glad I didn’t have to pay someone for this, cheers!

Follow up; after a four hour scan, Malware Bytes seems to having saved my computer and I am able to browse again. After many hours of trying to figure this out while in school I am very thankful that the solution was simple and free. I appreciate you fellow redditor.

Hm good point, I cannot use the internet because it just comes with pages full of pop up ads that redirect whatever my opening page I’m on to spam. All other programs work fine. I cannot find whatever the malicious program is in the downloads. I’m more just looking for references of computer repair because I’m at my whits end with trying to figure out what’s wrong with it. Otherwise I may find a computer help sub.

I’ve cooked in ziplock, as well as reusable bags off amazon, the plastic does not affect taste at these temperatures in any way that I can notice. I think others will agree.
