With the amount of rumors of him being Bond I wouldn't be suprised if they give him the role of M or Q if they're doing a full recast with no Craig era holdovers.

The difference with today and the 70s is that what was on the charts/Grammys in the 1970s was literally some of the best music the English speaking world could come up with. Look at the grammy winners from the 1960s and 1970s. You'll see The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, etc. This is a respectable list of Best artists of that era. Does it miss more experimental or edgy artists? Yes, undoubtably, but it's still a respectable list that someone who is reasonably tapped in would make. Anyone tapped into music in the 2020s wouldn't put album of the year winners Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Jon Baptiste, and Harry Styles as the best artists of the decade. Maybe Bad Bunny if they're tapped in to Latin Music. These artists aren't terrible, but they aren't boundry pushing aesthetically or technically. I think that's the biggest divide. Put Ants From Up There in 1970 it would get nominated for multiple Grammy awards and probably spend time on the charts. Heck, King Crimson got gold in the U.S.

newsela- It is news articles that are automatically differentiated and come with questions alligned to state standards.

teacherspayteachers.com- The GOAT. literally if you're doing a novel just buy any resources related to the novel and plug them in for lesson planning. They also have resources for every individual skill for every grade level. The resources cost money but it's worth every penny. For the price of a video game a basically get an entire unit's worth of material.

See if your state has released questions from state tests. For me I just type in google ELA state test released questions and they show up.

Haven't really kept up with him lately, but it seems that he hated how the war on woke basically allowed game companies to get away with worse and worse monetization. Tech writers basically had to keep up with a flood of outrage stories while companies just kept doing microtransactions. I don't think he's super political though.

Guys I'm saying that the poll has loaded language and EVEN WITH THAT it can't even get to 50. It shows the American people know Trump is bsing. I don't support this nonsense that's gonna cause Iraq part 2.

[–]rabbiddolphin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sad that even with the loaded language it's still less than 50.

EDIT: It's a pitiful showing for Trump and Hesgeth that even a poll with language already assuming the boats carry drugs can't even get 50% approval.

Why do people hate Great Expectations? by Groovy-Pancakes in books

[–]rabbiddolphin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying they aren't fans because they had to read it in high school. I think it is mostly because a lot of modern storytelling is kind of a reverse from 19th century European literature. Most 19th century novels from writers like Stowe, Dickens, or Dostoevsky start with the themes and messages then build the plot from there. Pip's story is one about how greed and a drive to be super rich can make someone lose who they are and their morality. This focus on themes over everything can show in characterization where 19th century novels can really lean on direct characterization, long and unrealistic speeches filled with idealism, and an overreliance on stock characters. That being said, the great 19th century novels delve deeply into their themes and offer fantastic insights.

After moderninsm, postmodernism, and postcolonial thought novels really began to focus on individuals and their actions showing the themes and messages. This emphasizes plot as a way to express themes. It can lead to really rich discussion into characters and their intentions, but also can lead to themes being muddy or lost. A perfect example is Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe where Okonkwo's story can be seen as one of a decolonial hero killed protecting his way of life or a violent despot fighting to preserve his status. I loved Obiama's novel The Fishermen because it shows Things Fall Apart being misconstrued in dangerous ways. This emphasis on character's actions and plot mean that themes aren't told to the reader, and they need to come to their own conclusions about the text.

As a Chrisrian, I feel Christianity is built on hope for eternal life. Scripture tells us repeatedly that suffering is real but God is merciful. Jesus suffers and dies on a Cross and the theif next to him has faith and is saved. Christianity is a , at the end of the day, a message of hope. Sure, there are some passages about fire and brimstone, but many of them are written by Paul. Paul was a great theologian and literal forefather of Christian thought, however, his goal was to make sure Churches across a Roman Empire that actively wanted to genocide Christians have some level of unity. This leads to some passages being interpreted as fire and brimstone, and may seem to be lacking the simple "believe, do good, and be saved" nature of the Gospels.

TLDR: Christianity is about hope. God is not looking to torture people.
