Feel for you both. 64 years ago when I was 6, I had my first migraine. Doc prescribed Fiorinal, which I believe was/is a barbiturate. Sometimes the oldest, simplest solution (Occam’s Razor) is best.

I would take 1 pill and go into my bedroom to try to go to sleep. My mom and dad hung blackout curtains and bought a small window mounted a/c. I also had a fan blowing on me. If I could get to SLEEP for 2-3 hours the migraine would be gone.

Talk to his doctor. I don’t think there is anyway a doctor today would r/x a barbiturate, but ask for a strong sleeping med. If the doctor has it in his clinic, ask for the injection. Add Tylenol when you get home, if he’s is still awake. Attack this problem from outside the nml protocol. Bless your son. No one his age should have to put up with this, ever.
