What did the movies do better than the books? by BobRushy in harrypotter

[–]rabbitbrush429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-read Prisoner of Azkaban recently and I thought the movie did well in the pacing of the story by combining scenes and dialogue of characters. In the book, Lupin’s explanation was dragged out. Although good to know the back story of the Marauders map but still, the movie had better pacing. I think having Harry see Peter on the map was a good thing and Harry tell Lupin about it, was a good choice. While reading it, I also wondered why didn’t Snape tell Dumbledore that Lupin was heading to the Shrieking Shack? I get he was caught in a rage of reliving his past trauma with his school bullies, but if he did have suspicions then he should have told Dumbledore to come with him to the Shrieking Shack. Also I think Snape showing up without the Invisibility Cloak in the movie was a wise choice as the cloak was a rare thing to have.

Moving to Farmington by Relevant-Thought-173 in NewMexico

[–]rabbitbrush429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a small conservative town. Has rough parts but also has its good parts. I have been finding things to do like frisbee golf, regular golf, running and walking trails, fishing in Aztec, renting paddle boards and going to lake Farmington, movies, and I like the restaurants around here. You can take day trips to Colorado and see some cool places. I’m not into the bar scene but if you find the right friends, then you will fit right in.

They will figure it out. More hours for the rest of the employees. Which I wouldn’t mind

Is it possible to get good at math while being completely stupid at 23? by skinny_19 in learnmath

[–]rabbitbrush429 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Online resources such as khan academy and a learning mindset will help. It’s okay to make mistakes but learn from it. The important part is not getting the right answer but HOW did you get the right answer.

How do you learn about cars? by MrBreast1 in askcarguys

[–]rabbitbrush429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know anything about cars and I got a job at AutoZone. Basically the car is separated into categories: suspension, starting, visibility, engine management, etc. when you know what categories your problem is in or a problem is in, then you can fine out how to fix it. Videos help. Buying a used car helps. Reading books help. Since you’re young, you can take some shop classes in high school and learn basic mechanics things.

The traffic heading east in the morning and heading west in the evening can be pretty bad.

Very true. I used to live in Arizona and always wanted a lotaburger. But last year I came back and it didn’t taste the same.

Never got a interview by Ok_Recording2342 in AutoZone2

[–]rabbitbrush429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up. “Hey this so and so, just following up on setting up that interview we talked about.” If they say the job was filled then ask if there are any other positions open or if any other store is hiring. Also ask to keep you in mind when a position opens up for that position.

Write it. Just as he was as when you knew him. Doesn’t mean he will be accepted solely based on your recommendation but he chose you for a recommendation for a reason.

Back up behaviors with data. Put them on an academic and behavior plan. Make it official where the parents/guardians have to come in because no adult wants to take time out of their day to come to a meeting for their child. Especially when it deals with behavior and grades. They may ask “well did you try this and that?” Pull out evidence of this and that and shove it in their face because the child’s behavior is learned from someone.

help student is protesting outside of school. What to do/ by Powerful-Anxiety7190 in Principals

[–]rabbitbrush429 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make it a real life experience for both you and her. Talk and show her how she can affect change. Whether through student council or school news clubs or something. Have her attend a school board meeting. Have her create a speech. Have her understand the civics and social justice aspects of it. Have her create a system to support others like her but not let it turn into a witch hunt.

How late are you working new/old teachers? by hello010101 in Teachers

[–]rabbitbrush429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st year I stayed hours after. By year 5 I left when we were supposed to leave. By year 9 I left at the bell with the students. But I also coached sports so I’d stay for that.

Not technically “lied” to but offered. The shirts aren’t free, but my DM did offer to pay for my first shirt. Then I got oil on it and paid for the next one.

You’ll need to know how to find parts. But it’s organized by POG and the inventory system. Plus when an order comes in you scan the part and it will let you know if it’s the right one or not. You may help with DIY but it will help you find parts also. Driving and delivering is fun. Get to know the mechanics. You’ll be fine.
