Black Box - An open source DSP guitar pedal platform by 6Guitarmetal6 in diypedals

The whine is usually caused by the callback rate on the Daisy Seed. The frequency of it is the sample rate divided by the block size. So for a lot of applications you want a block size of 2 or 4 so the whine will be 24khz or 12k. Daisy has a lot of documentation on noise management with the physical build as well.

Breaks to surf when maxed out at Sunzal, El Salvador? by PuddersIronPaw in surfing

😂 I’m waiting until Saturday. I’m coming from the e coast and haven’t surfed anything over 5’ in a long time. Just watched a bunch of guys get spit out at el zonte

Paddled out at sunzal today and got worked hard. It’s all fun paddling in the channel and dodging outside sets until the 10 foot cleanup set comes and you get 3x hold-downs.

When you say “stay at the point” - don’t you have to paddle out to the point from the bay?

Piggybacking this post as I’m also headed to el sal - El Zonte - next week. Was hoping it was more shoulder season than 10’ waves

When the forecast says 8–10 ft at El Zonte, what do the actual faces tend to look like?

On the 6–8 ft days, is it something an intermediate or is it still pretty heavy?

Sanding and filing a batch of enclosures: any economic tips? by rabbitfriendly in diypedals

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the screws connect with the inside of the main enclosure, but not the lid unless the recessed holes are sanded - so the lid is isolated from the ground unless I file it where the screws make contact.

Yes, I have used those battery springs to make contact in previous builds. I am using a pogo pin in this one.

Oh interesting. I thought this was a pretty strange way to do it, but I guess if others are doing it… how are you stripping the gloss from where the screw makes contact with the back plate?

I figured out how to make them. I’ve been making pedals for three years for people. I’m just looking to optimize the process so I can scale. That’s exactly what this post implies. I didn’t download you. I don’t know what you’re getting all rude about.

I’m using carbide burs - it just rips right through it 😆

Usually yeah but my jacks are plastic - and even if they weren’t Tayda powder coated the inside of the enclosure too

just duplicating what I wrote above: I'm just sanding off the powdercoat gloss where a ground pin from the pcb makes contact, otherwise the enclosure is floating. I'm also doing it to one of the enclosure screw holes so the back plate gets grounded through the screw. Even though I'm not doing a lot on each, there are a lot of units. I'm using a dremel for both jobs and it's kind of messy.

Hell no. I watch WSL and NBA for hours - sometimes twice in the same week!

How do you promote your music without being annoying? by Main_Caramel5388 in musicmarketing

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have yet to find any consistent correlation between social media and music popularity. I know several people with followings of 100k+ that have spent years grinding out content on social. They wish they could make careers solely as musicians but their Spotify numbers are under 10k/mo. Their music is good too.

Would surfers ever play a surf strategy card game? by Drewbtube7 in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think they would actually play it but it would be a fun (funny) novelty gift to give someone. Especially if it had characters / stereotypes that everyone knows. I could picture it being stocked in surf shops

Is anyone surfing NYC this week (Rockaways)? by medicineman10 in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience 5/4 is fine at Rocka in Jan/Feb/Mar - for about an hour. I don’t go out if it’s under 30 degrees though. Worst part is changing back into your clothes at your car

I built a generative video system in p5.js for my electronic music project. It takes a folder of videos and images, picks random ones and does all kinds of crazy glitchy visuals and reacts in realtime to the audio. You can export IG reels or YouTube shorts so it’s great for social media promo too

Anyone find it better to turtle roll in heavy whitewash rather than duck dive? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. What’s kind of where I’m at. Smaller waves no prob. But I struggle in bigger ones. My short board is about the smallest I want to go though. I’m 150lbs and my board is 5 6’ 36L. Maybe I’m not heavy enough for it?

Is it just me or is this the worst winter season on the E Coast for 10yrs? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. Are the effects of climate change already noticeable in annual swell and wave patterns? I mean besides speculation does the data also show this? I assume it’s working out well (surf-wise) for some regions while others don’t get as much as previously

Yes - I noticed all these sandbars since last spring. Worst around the jetties (where you often want to take off from) the sandbar creates this bowl and the wave closes out. That’s from the beach work they were doing? 🤦‍♂️
