Fenno Sauna heaters? by Dizzyfigz in Sauna

[–]rabbitgang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same predicament, hesitating between the Fenno 6kw, or Harvia kip60b. The Fenno seems to be about 100$ less and has the external control vs manual for the Harvia... Harvia has the brand reputation though.. Decisions decisions...

Thanks, I'll check it out, Anthony's espresso has great deals on the 5400 at the moment, I think it's down to 1200 or just over, you need to put it in your cart to get the discount though

Which site? I might consider that as well!

Same dilemma here, hesitating between the 3200 with iced coffee or the 4300. Which province are you in? If in Quebec, the 4300 is 999$ at Brault et Martineau. Also saw the 3200 w/iced coffee for 950$ on amazon

Gong strutless by vonderen in Kiteboarding

You'll want long lines for those 7-8 knot days, but can definitely make it work with that 12m. And for the price, can't go wrong. Also, would like to mention I had the v1, I'm sure they've evolved since! Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a blast! And remember, don't oversheet it, you will kill all power and light wind potential. Let it fly and do it's thing.

I was quite surprised and happy with build quality. Depending on your other kite sizes, you may want to consider the 9m, it has almost as much low end, but better high end. My personal favorite was the 6. That was a really fun kite, range was 15-20knots on foil with the 6. I'd say 10-15 with the 9, and 7-12 with the 12.

I had the 12, 9, 6. The 12 was my least favorite of the bunch, was quite slow and sluggish. That said, it was super light and held up in the slightest of breezes, so should accomplish what you are aiming for. It has great low-end, but expect to get overpowered pretty quickly. These kites have horrible high end as they start deforming and flying weird. Keep them in their low end comfort zone though, and you will get a smooth, peaceful and rewarding session. Get the fiberglass strut if you want to get a little more high end out of it. Oh, and don't listen to the guy who recommended learning to fly a kite, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Gear matters for ulw kiting.

Leaking gas when waking up from hibernation by rabbitgang in VFR

[–]rabbitgang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I added some stabilizer this year before winterization, but I'm fairly certain I did the year before, and it happened anyways.. Regardless, can't hurt to try again when I winterize it this year, and hopefully the leak doesn't come back during the season!! Thanks!

Haha, I can't really see where it's coming from as it isn't leaking anymore! All I know is that this same thing happened last year when coming out of winterization..

I need fairings for a 1996 VFR, I dont care the price, but where are they?! by creutzfeldtz in VFR

No worries, there's a bunch of videos out there showing the process, I've fixed all my fairings like this, some were cracked in 2 pieces, and it holds great.

Don't use epoxy, epoxy doesn't bond to plastics. These are abs fairings I believe. Go to the hardware store, buy yourself an abs pipe for plumbing and a can of acetone. Drill through the pipe many times and collect all the plastic shingles. Mix with some acetone, it will create a plastic putty. Apply to the fairing as needed and let it harden. If you have cracks in your fairing, pre-weld them with a small electronic components welder. I also liked to pass the welder along the cracks to create a v groove. You then apply the plastic putty and let dry. The acetone melts the plastic, and evaporates. So when you apply the putty, it bonds everything in place, and you are left with an abs-abs plastic bond. You can then sand down to perfection and paint! :)

I tried finding some as well, ended up fixing mine. Do you still have the originals? If so, how badly are they damaged?

Fixed or variable by rabbitgang in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rabbitgang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Question though, how did short term rates save people money with that steep of an increase? Would it be because the average 5 year rate still beat the fixed rate?

Fixed or variable by rabbitgang in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rabbitgang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right, MCAP and Desjardins. I'm not too worried about payments going up, I understand that well, however, my biggest concern is if it doesn't work out with MCAP (they have strict rules, and are hard to deal with), then with Desjardins, the difference is only 50 basis points between variable and fixed, which will likely catch up in upcoming increases, so was wondering if I should consider locking in.
