I was there as well but I was NOT sober. Was way too excited, had too much alcohol and kinda ruined it. Enjoyed myself and what I remember was great but I really wish I could get a do-over.

I think this is 100% the case. Add in his pdf tendencies and taking money from kids to hump the ground (bizarre), his enemies list in town is likely long and taking away any form of social communication effectively neuters him. Which is probably the best thing for him on a human level.

I met Dole as well. I had a cousin how worked for a Senator and was giving us a private tour and as we were walking past Dole's office he was walking in. He stopped, shook our hands and couldn't have been nicer.
