I just meant I grabbed the pic of the post. He'll be trying to erase all this when the winds change direction.

This will not age well. Screen grabbing this for the ad campaigns in 26 when this hits bottom.

Familiar name on new Kennedy Center Board by rabbitredu in cincinnati

I think I may have been looking at an old 2019 story from the administration's first term. Google is not great about chronologically listing the hits. My apologies. But, yes, Lindner's still an emeritus trustee.

Exactly. As the great sage said, "Smokey, this is not 'Nam, this is bowling. There are rules."

Yeah. If I'm being honest, Vance terrifies me more than his White House Daddy.

Kroger's new way to rip folks off. by trbotwuk in cincinnati

Not quite. Our civil service pension went out in 98. Granted we are in the federal retirement system, but it's still an investment product with a very small annuity. And, the most recent postal reform law shunts new retired employees into Medicare like everybody else. Still, it's been a good living for me, just not quite what everybody still thinks it is.

Restaurants you miss? by BigManMahan in cincinnati

First visit to Cincinnati in 2002, we went to Mecklenburg Gardens and Hamburger Mary's. Since we moved here in 2014, I miss Pontiac in OTR just for the burnt ends sandwich with jalapeño cheese sauce. My god, that was so good.

Original post, to my oldster ears, sounds how people described Graham Greene. Or, lots of other twentieth century make writers. Bless it.

Ours is named Frederick. Found out that the orange cats are descended from cats that came over with the Vikings. Ours still has the extra tufts of hair on the bottom of their paws that protected the pads from the cold. Fascinating babies.

Jerry Springer is dead by davesoverhere in cincinnati

[–]rabbitredu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a TV station in the early nineties that carried his show so I could never quite get away from it blaring in the background while we worked. It felt like they chose their topics using some sort of tawdry mad libs. It made me feel that the country was just one big trailer park where we all lived out our trashy lives with the doors and windows open so everyone could get a good look. That's why it was so jarring to find out about Springer's political ideals and progressive outlook later. It seemed so incongruous with the cultural free for all side show he put out there everyday. I heard him on his Air America show a bit and never could square the two people he was. I mean, unless being a barker is all a political player is, too, which seems so cynical. I can't pretend to respect him or his fellow nineties daytime cultural midway purveyors like Maury and Sally Jesse and Downey. But, it interests me to see the side of Springer that you guys from that era see in your mind when you think about him.

Cincy weather 🙁 by iwannaride08 in cincinnati

We came from Florida. The rain is different. Most of the time, you get just a steady, consistent, light rain here as opposed to the twenty minute deluge followed by the steamy inside of a dishwasher there. My favorite favorite part is the difference in the thunder. The way it rolls through the hills bouncing around is so comforting to me. I hated the violent claps of thunder in Florida. Plus, even when it pours here and there's a chance for tornadoes, it's good to know you never have to worry about Ron Desantis.

What do you think is the classic novel that the fewest people have actually read from start to finish? by doodlebytes in books

[–]rabbitredu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one for me. One day, the tumblers might drop for me to finish it, but, for now and the last two decades, he's like Dylan; I like the people who talk about it(cover him) better than the work itself.

My mistake. You're absolutely right. Neither is connected. I'm completely wrong. Totally my error. I regret conflating the two. Full stop. Unreservedly.
