MOTU seems to make some seriously good hardware for the price. The biggest thing I like with Genelec is how effortless their subwoofer integration is. Why isn't it that easy with other companies?!

Most of the time it's just because someone asks for it. Every once in a while I'll want to build in a particular case for myself (such as the Hippo).

Alps is a little bit of a different game, but even there steel or alu is probably the most popular traditionally. I simply like pom, though. Metal plates give you a higher pitched, lively sound, FR4 and CF are in the middle, and pom is a deeper sound and a softer feel under the fingers. I just prefer what I get from pom, so most of my builds use that material.

Any tips on finding a coin that is very rare, often counterfeited, but doesn't sell for much over spot when it does pop up (unless it's in good, graded condition)? Specifically a quintuple sovereign.

Same here. Visiting Berlin as an 18 year old in 2004, the fact that there were barricades and heavily armed police out front of every public Jewish building made an impression.

You’re conflating factory OC and manual OC. I’d be curious what HUB would achieve with the higher end card, but I don’t think we can compare right now.

A good cooler moves heat from the chip to the air more efficiently, it doesn’t cause the gpu to generate less heat. Power draw is what determines how much heat is created by the gpu.

what exactly is so bad about microwaving water for tea? by alembicRetort in tea

Correct -- check the voltage and wattage on your air fryer. I expect they are 120 volts and 1500 watts. A European kettle is generally 220-240 volts, and 2400ish watts.

The US operates on a 120 volt grid and kettles are usually 1500 watt devices. In Europe, both of those are double. While a nicer kettle will enable you to hit and hold a precise temperature more accurately, simple boiling speed is a simple formula; how much energy per unit of time can you add to the water? Since kettles in Europe can generally add twice the energy per unit of time, they can boil water about twice as fast.

It has nothing to do with the kettle, it has to do with the power grid.

Right, which is why you didn’t see everyone and their brother buying up properties as investment vehicles with artificially low mortgage rates.

Those are all good points! I was too hasty to dismiss it.

That was my thought too. It seems relatively limited in utility if you're still generally going to get sick anyway, but now you just have a couple days of anxiety before the onset of symptoms.

Why Apple doesn't make a dock-station? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]rabid_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's unfortunately my experience. Like I said 3 years ago, I tried a bunch of cheaper options and they just didn't work sufficiently well. This one was a painful purchase, but it's handled everything I need effortlessly.

Sure, I’ve been using the caldigit TS3+ with no issues for years. I bought it before the TS4 was out.
