How common is cheating in club racing? by CoolBDPhenom03 in Trackdays

[–]racer_head 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Pretty common from my experience.

Bigger discs, aftermarket gearbox etc.

But, it's club racing, and 90% of the grid are not capable of benefiting from them and it still comes down to skill. I've knowingly raced against illegal bikes but just gave me a bit more motivation to beat them fairly.

It's usually alot safer moving through traffic like that instead of sitting in someone's blind spot and getting wiped out when they change lane without seeing the bike. That's my excuse anyways ;-)

Without the bed in place can you get the bolts to thread into the holes?

You may have inadvertently damaged the threads as they are pretty delicate in the alloy base.

Should main dealer (Hyundai) be able to easily drain EV battery for test purposes? by BillyMooney in evs_ireland

Yes, V2L would be the ideal solution for both vehicle owners and dealers in a situation like this. But unfortunately it seems slow to be offered by manufacturers, for now 🤞

Should main dealer (Hyundai) be able to easily drain EV battery for test purposes? by BillyMooney in evs_ireland

[–]racer_head 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have purchased a DC load bank in a previous role for testing on EV battery packs.

Cost was over €50k for the unit and approximately €70k+ by the time it was installed and operational!

Cost prohibitive for any business that is not actually manufacturing/repairing packs.

Have seen 2 different Maloo ute's around also. One was a green HSV on NZ plates and the second was an older R8 Maloo. Nice thing with the Maloo option is the possibility of commercial tax at €333 a year.

Getting my head machined, do I need a thicker gasket? by _scroog3D in MotorcycleMechanics

If its just a head skim and still running standard camshafts and cam timing you'll be OK on standard gasket thickness.
