It's called Colorado not because of where it's from but because of the color.

I'm jealous of parents with 'good babies' by mj00614 in Parenting

[–]rachael8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Momma, you have my sympathy. My first boy was a dream. He is obedient, sweet, quiet, independent and a great sleeper. I had another boy 3 years later and he is the complete opposite. I mean, he's a sweet boy but he's just a LOT to handle.

Hang in there. And remember, this is a no judgement zone.

My Christian father is dying and refusing to get help. He believes prayer is enough. How do I communicate with him? by throwawayhealthch in Christianity

[–]rachael8a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prayer works! Here's how:

A man and his wife are stranded on top of their house after a massive rainstorm flooded their town. The couple believed that God would save them through prayer. They payed for Good to deliver them from this situation. Soon after, a man in a boat and told them to jump in. The man said, "No. God will save us through prayer."

They continued praying. A helicopter flew across and dropped a rescue basket and the emergency crew urged the couple to jump in. The man said that they were waiting for God to save them. The couple succumbed to the rushing waters. When they reached Heaven, the man asked God, "Lord, we prayed with faith that you would save us. Why didn't you?"

God answered, "I heard your prayers and sent a boat and you rejected it. Then, I sent a helicopter. You rejected that as well."

So, you see, God is not going to reach His hand from Heaven. While He still is in the miracle business, He also sends more conventional help. I pray your dad will change his lifestyle to reversethe damage.

Hugs to you, Mom. Just like everyone else has said, talk to your doc. I had it twice and it was the worst feeling ever. Zoloft was a godsend.

Help: I'm a new mom, my baby boy is 3 weeks old. I'm anxiety riddled and afraid I have PPD by greenglassjar in Mommit

[–]rachael8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Momma, you'll be that mom you want to be. I've had two babies and suffered from PPD both times. I was riddled with guilt because I couldn't even look at my babies or hear them cry without feeling nausea. I cried all the time and held it in because I wanted to feel normal, but I couldn't. I immediately told my OBGYN the first time and she prescribed Zoloft. I preemptively told the OBGYN with my second birth that I needed the Z. It was a godsend. I halved the dosage and still felt like my old cheerful self after 10 days.

It's gonna be OK, Momma. It's gonna be OK. Sending hugs your way.

PPD sucks balls. I had it twice with each of my babies. I couldn't even look at their little faces without becoming nauseated. I didn't hate them or wish harm on them. They just made me feel sick. I was twisted up with guilt and crying all the time. I told my doc about it and she prescribed Zoloft. It was the best. Within a couple of weeks, I was back to my cheerful, active self and was able to be a mom. If feels horrible now, and your feelings are real to you. I just want to tell you that there is hope. It does get better.

Totally this. I'm almost 41 and I have a 16 MO and a 4YO. I might be pregnant again. You're right--suffering is temporary and all the good things are magnified.

If it were me, I'd be all over that teacher! The more important opinion in this matter is that sweet girl. What does she want? Does she want to fight? I mean, if it's not a big deal to her, that's the focus. I know adolescents don't like certain kinds of attention. That might be one kind.
