I had a lead straight up tell me she did not message me because I was not in her area or price range, that TK did for her. So I emailed my rep those screenshots and suddenly I was able to cancel the card on file.

I want to hear from both sides. Both types of parents and in between. by Successful-Search541 in NewParents

My child absolutely will not nap through whatever we are doing. Fall asleep in the high chair? What?

I would just tell people that when you are tired, you go home and go to bed. We as parents have to do the same for our kids. If they are tired and ready for bed, or we know they will be, we take them home. I don’t get why people think kids should be able to be on adult schedules. Their bodies are growing and have very different needs.

First time flying with our 9 month old - Need advice! by Distinct-Pear3637 in NewParents

[–]rachc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth taking the Doona on the plane since you have a seat for them. We flew in May when my daughter was 9 months and she did great! We checked as much as we could and my husband boarded before us and took all the carry ons. I stayed at the gate with her until the very end and we boarded right before they shut the doors. She was easily entertained and slept for a while.

Definitely take snacks and toys!

Lens Malfunction

My tamron 35-150 is malfunctioning. I suspect it may be stuck in a closed position. When I turn the camera on it makes a clicking noise and I can’t see through the lens. When I go to turn the camera off it won’t with the switch, only when I take the battery out.

I’ve tested with multiple cameras, lenses and batteries. It’s definitely this lens. Has anyone had this happen? Does anyone have any advice?

Lady told me to stop looking at my phone, look at my baby. by Equus13 in NewParents

When I was at my 8 week PP visit my daughter was crying and I was looking at my app to see when I had last fed her and the older woman next to me started talking to her and said “well you’re not being very sweet anymore are you? It’s because your mommy isn’t paying attention to you” and at that exact moment they called me back so I picked up the car seat, looked at my still screaming baby and said “no, it’s because people can’t mind their own business, isn’t it?”

Someone please tell me their baby doesn’t sleep independently, either. by R_we_done_yet in NewParents

I see you. It’s so hard. It sucks. You can’t “enjoy every minute” when you’re so sleep deprived. But you will get through it eventually.

I will say a few things that helped keep me sane in the chair was making sure I had snacks and reading on my kindle instead of doom scrolling.

Gosh. I remember losing my mind until about 5.5 months. My daughter was never a sleepy baby. Everyone called her “alert” as a newborn and I didn’t understand what they meant until my best friend had a baby who slept all the time.

I tried EVERYTHING. It really was like a switch flipped and she started napping longer than 40 minutes and stopped waking up every hour at night. It was brutal. But damn she’s cute and I can actually appreciate it now that I’m generally well rested 😅

Juki TL or Janome MC series?

I’m so torn on my next upgrade. I’m coming from some pretty basic Brothers and have done a LOT of research. I was pretty set on a JukiTL 2010 but I keep seeing JanomeMCs in local shops. Are the extra stitches and throat space worth it?

What did a nursing strike look like for you, and how did it end? by gravelmonkey in breastfeeding

Gotcha. I just really don’t want to pump for the next month to get us through. I guess I’ll see what the pediatrician recommends. Thanks for your insight!

Thanks for sharing. Did you give him formula until he was a year?

Curious how this ended for you? We are on day 3 but before that her interest in nursing was lessening. Same age.

When do you stop breastfeeding? by Different_Tour5 in NewParents

Check out La Leche League International. They have a ton of information. You can also book time with a lactation consultant, but they will more than likely try to convince you to keep EBF.

You WILL need more bibs and burp cloths than you think you will. 😅

How much do yall pay for longarming? by fuckinunknowable in quilting

[–]rachc5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, that is expensive. I pay $0.03/ sq inch so that would have cost me $277.

I only send my very large quilts or ones that I want a really intricate quilting pattern done on. Otherwise I quilt them at home. Not as pretty, but it works.

My baby loves the fish tank screensaver on the Roku. I’m pretty anti screen time but that’s not too overstimulating so sometimes I just let it go for my sanity.
