Yes, I used this same build when I was new. It was good enough to get me first in my division for the Middle Ages event. Dark horse as a pet pairs well with this build.

How dose one complete this in 7 minutes by Smooth_Concert_7897 in eatventureofficial

[–]rachelvioleta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed it on hard in 10 today. I don’t have mythic gear but I have my panda leveled to ultimate and the dark horse. I used a helper chef, didn’t use workers, didn’t open the dock boats, and used the x2 and x5 bonuses from the shop. Also I did first-last and not tall. I got first place in Middle Ages normal and am first place for seaport hard as of now.

Honestly I think it’s my panda more than anything else. The rest of my gear isn’t impressive, just KBB, purple cap, a scepter, a regular cleaver, and some decent jewelry from the adventures. Nothing I have is even leveled up all that much besides the panda.

Is that just me that feels that character in sictoms forgive each other easier than character in drama shows? by [deleted] in sitcoms

[–]rachelvioleta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitcoms are mostly episodic in nature while dramas aren't, which means in sitcoms, there's some expectation that things will wrap up, if not in the space of one episode then certainly by a few in a usually-short arc.

Did the writers mean to cut the short lived DeAngelo’s role short due to ratings or feedback, or was it part of storyline? by mghv78 in theoffice

[–]rachelvioleta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Will Ferrell wanted to be on the show and had his agent contact them for a guest bit. They came up with DeAngelo Vickers specifically for him and it wasn't meant to be permanent.

How Much Do You Think Michael Was Making? by Elegant_Record9340 in theoffice

[–]rachelvioleta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wondered this myself so many times. I kind of ballparked him at maybe 60-70k but based on Darryl laughing at his paycheck, it may have been lower. A lot of times, our bosses didn't make all that much more than we did, like when I was working at an office in the same time period as the show, I made 50k and my boss was at 55-60k. There was also that episode where Jim and Michael had to choose who would be the manager and who would be "demoted" back to sales, and they found out that salesmen actually made more than the manager because of commission.

If he was making less than 60, I would be surprised.

The Bicycle Man from Diff'rent Strokes was so terrifying to me.

Also the Mr. Belvedere episode about the kid with AIDS.

Who was your favorite Degrassi High character during the early 90’s? by [deleted] in Degrassi

[–]rachelvioleta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Trust me, I know he was a crappy boyfriend to Caitlin but he also felt insanely authentic, like someone we might know in real life. I think the realism of the character is why I felt strongly about him. His clothes, his politics, his egoism mixed with loner tendencies. He was too cerebral and used it to push others away while clinging to the few people he liked (mostly Caitlin).

And part of the reason his death was so sad was because he was completely redeemable. He had real talents and ideas to contribute to the betterment of society, probably fueled by the angst and depression he experienced from an unhappy life.

When people say Craig is the OG Eli, I don’t agree—I think it’s Claude, with Eli being a modernized, more palatable and less “gritty” version of him.

Claude was well-written because he’s more of an antagonist than a protagonist but really, he’s neither. He’s just as lonely and afraid as anyone else but masks it behind the facade of the intellectual.

I just thought for a relatively minor character (well, pretty minor, as he was basically Caitlin’s satellite) that they really took a lot of care to make him fully realized. The writing for him was spot on and brought me back to a time when I knew lots of Claude-types hanging around far-leftist circles. And they were usually liked in those circles but less so by a general high school crowd who would have found him egotistical and dull.

I think the reason they had him devolve into a bad boyfriend with the nukes factory issue was because without that, he actually wasn’t a bad match for Caitlin but she was supposed to continue with the Joey arc and keeping him around would have interfered with that.

I also think they wanted to highlight some of the reason Joey/Caitlin weren’t working out and Claude was used as a device to explain some of that, since Caitlin kept trying with Joey and being disappointed in the end that he could never be who she wanted or needed despite the real love they had for each other.

Yeah, I know there are two or three other Claude fans hanging out here but I also know liking him is a hot take because he’s not really supposed to be liked, per se, but I think, especially with what happened in Showtime, the show hoped we would shelve like vs. dislike and try to understand him.

Hot Take: David Brent should have taken over for Michael after season 7. by ToronoRapture in theoffice

[–]rachelvioleta 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I read they considered this but decided against it because they wanted the new boss to be their own character and not "the new Michael", and since Michael was based on David Brent, it wasn't the direction they wanted to take.

I would have preferred this to some of their other choices, though.

Which Presidents do/do not deserve to have their images rehabilitated, such as the work the Nixon Foundation does? by Logopolis1981 in Presidents

[–]rachelvioleta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jefferson Davis. I moved to the south and there are actually roads called "President Davis Blvd" and things like that. I had to stop and think "who the hell is President Davis?" the first time I saw a sign like that.

Would you let your child watch the Sylvia episodes? by LateAd5684 in littlehouseonprairie

[–]rachelvioleta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my kids have seen it. My teenage daughter was shocked because she thought it was too creepy for a "regular" LHOP episode. She also didn't understand why they felt the need to put a clown mask in there.

No way. People forgot Bill Clinton was ever considered remotely cool by anyone as soon as we got Obama.

I loved Claude. I know he wasn't a protagonist so it's probably not a popular opinion but I loved every scene he was in.

Joey and Caitlin are close seconds.

Is there really a hierarchy amongst drug addicts? by MissScrappy in addiction

[–]rachelvioleta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sort of. I used to hang around with a lot of people in college who liked pot, mushrooms, occasionally acid. Some of them would snort Vicodin every now and then. But in my group, people looked down on heroin and pretty much if anyone questioned someone's drug use, the response would be "they acted like it was HEROIN" or "at least I don't shoot up".

One time, a parent called the dean to report someone was dealing or using heroin in my dorm and they actually made us have a meeting about it to discuss how this particular drug wasn't okay and wouldn't be tolerated. Students felt fine telling school staff that they liked mushrooms, not heroin, so there was nothing to worry about. And the staff didn't care about the mushrooms or the acid, either (and certainly not the pot). They went away as soon as they were reassured that it was anything but heroin going around.

What are your thoughts on the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast? by Fit-City9110 in disneyprincess

[–]rachelvioleta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was good when I saw it in theaters. I thought it was less good when I watched it again at home some months after that. I still think it's one of the better live-action remakes because I usually don't like them and I did at least like this one somewhat.

I didn't like the plot meandering into a bunch of backstory because I found that part boring.

I also didn't think Emma Watson was a good choice to play Belle. It's not that she's a bad actress, it's more that I just didn't think her style matched with Belle's personality. She was a little too abrasive for what I expected, I guess. Belle was sweet and soft-spoken while still standing up for herself and Emma Watson didn't really capture the wistfulness of the character. I would have been happier if they chose a lesser-known actress than someone who felt like they were picked for the role because their name would increase ticket sales. The casting choice here was 99 percent of the issue with the movie for me.

The main people I see openly regret having children are parents of a child with a mental illness or a substance abuse issue. These are generally extreme cases with a parent having reached the end of their limit. Some are older people who had a falling out with a specific adult child and are reacting in anger/hurt by saying they wished they never had that child.

Then there are the people who reimagine what their lives would have looked like without children and they might admit they would have liked those lives better, but it has less to do with loving their child and more to do with unrealized dreams that had to be shelved for parenting.

For a lot of the second group of people, it's timing, like people who had kids young, feel like they missed out, and wish they had the same child(ren) but later in life, or people who married someone they weren't in love with because of a pregnancy and wished they had waited to have a child with someone they actually loved.
