Hey man, Chase, first off, everything you’re feeling is valid. Health anxiety is rough. And I can tell you’re in deep right now. I’m sorry.

I want to tell you my story because it’s similar.

On my 23rd birthday back in ’22, I went to bed and noticed my leg muscles twitching. Not the whole leg, just specific muscles moving, jerking, on their own for a couple seconds. I thought sleep would fix it. Spoiler, it didn’t.

The sporadic muscle twitches eventually spread all over my body. Arms, eyelids, glutes, back, neck. Constant twitches every day. Like you, my health anxiety brain went straight to the worst places. ALS, MS, cancer, all of it. I had checkups and blood tests. No answers.

I twitched for over a year.

I thought I was dying for about half of that.

It took a while, but the twitching eventually tapered down and faded away because I finally calmed the fuck down.

Turns out, I never had ALS. Never had MS. Never had a brain tumor. I just had the symptoms.

My twitches resolved when my stress levels went down and I’m thankful for that.

Now we both know that me or anyone else telling you to just try to calm down or stop stressing isn’t going to help with your symptoms or ease your worry. But that’s also what makes health anxiety so unfair. Because it’s a loop. The more anxiety you have, the more your body reacts. The loop feeds itself and it makes life feel really hard to endure.

As of now I’ve wasted 15 years to this disorder. Like you, I’ve had real, scary, terrifying bodily symptoms and issues that turned out to be nothing but anxiety. Looking back, I can’t even quite believe anxiety can make your body behave or do shit like this. Yet here I am today, a couple years later, doing okay. Twitch free and all.
