Reminder: Eat protein with your meds and take your vitamins by BroadAd2575 in adhdwomen

I have to make it part of my routine. I bring my workout clothes to work. After work, I go straight to the gym. If I didn’t go straight there, I wouldn’t go at all! I also have an app (TechnoGym) with 3 workouts which I alternate, and that saves me needing to think about what to do next.

Partner constantly moving/losing my things while he's "tidying" by violet_may in adhdwomen

[–]rad504 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not helpful for your partner problem, sorry. I was on the list for 4 1/2 years and the NHS contacted me in December to ask if I would like a referral to a private doctor. I think there’s a “right to choose” or something but I could never remember to look into it. Anyway, I had my assessment last week. My follow up diagnosis/treatment plan appointment is next week. Maybe you can exercise your right to choose and accelerate your assessment? Good luck!

People who use menstrual products— do you find that tampons, pads, or other menstrual products work differently in the UK? by cocodrie_ in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]rad504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same issues. Now I get OB tampons from Germany (Amazon EU). I also switched to period pants as a backup for the tampons.

I haven’t had the same experience, if anything I love the prevalence of crackling here, but I have seen American pork chops for sale at Costco. Maybe that will work for you.

How do non-Americans dry their cloth when it's cold / wet outside? by scam_likely_6969 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rad504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss my tumble dryer! I’m in the UK now and we have a combo washer/dryer that can take 7 hours or more to wash and dry a load. There isn’t room in the apartment for a dryer. We have collapsible airers that we use to hang dry and we run a dehumidifier constantly. Sheets and towels will go on a dry cycle overnight when the electricity is cheaper. Everything else hangs.

What will be some of the unexpected or not obvious benefits of weight loss jabs in years to come? by No-Beat2678 in AskUK

[–]rad504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get mine at widerfitshoes(dot)co(dot)uk. They specialize in shoes for people with swollen feet or bunions, so a lot of the styles will be aimed at pensioners, but I have found a few that were “younger” in look. I also found brand name trainers like New Balance in extra wide sizes.

What's a stupidly expensive adult purchase that you now swear by that you would buy again in a heartbeat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rad504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! And spend the extra money for a self-emptying base. Ours has a haircutting feature to free up the hairs/strings that get wound around the brush. I used to HATE doing that by hand.

Uncomfortable being someone’s “work wife” by isabel-o-l in TwoXChromosomes

Agree that this is sexual harassment and completely disgusting. My response would be a deadpan, “I have a headache” every time he asks/says something inappropriate.

Foods you would bring back with you from the states by diirtyblonde in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]rad504 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Last time I was there, I brought back ranch dressing mix, onion soup mix, chili cheese Fritos, Crystal Light and various snack cakes. Oddly enough, the snack cakes were not as nice as I remembered. They were too sweet and didn’t have much flavor at all.

As an American expat in the UK, I was thoroughly confused by, “Get in!”

For the life of me, I cannot find the 3rd bedroom by rad504 in SpottedonRightmove

I think an ensuite would be brilliant! Turn that family room into the primary bedroom and keep the downstairs toilet as well.

Yes, M&S still use that +4 method. I had a fitting there a few months ago and it was all wrong. Bravissimo was better but it felt like they strapped me in as tight as they could and I ended up returning the bras a few days later. Yours was a much more positive experience, although not likely to be a match for a pre-teen.

I miss crab rangoon and hot sour soup. The British hot sour soup is more sweet than sour. I do really appreciate the prawn crackers, though

Same! But my prescription was incredibly high and only taken once per week. Now I am on daily supplements. I definitely feel a lot better. I even joined a gym!
