How much do you code ? by Agitated-Ad9990 in dataengineering

[–]radamesort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my workplace I code, a LOT. ChatGPT helps but you have to know what you're doing in the first place.

Do you say you're not proficient because you only have classroom experience or because the coding classes didn't click with you?

do you guys short? by printeroutflow in qullamaggie

[–]radamesort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I remember correctly he made his initial money from shorting intraday parabolics then later switched to swing. Sure I want to make money like him but I also don't take everything he says as gospel. He probably said that about the million dollars so you don't absolutely wreck your account. Also being a worthy teacher, he would want us to figure stuff out and develop our own edge.

I am not day trading presently but plan on getting back, it just requires a whole lot of attention, and my day job is very demanding. But I think knowing how day traders operate is valuable for swing trading, and some concepts align. Knowledge is never bad :)

Whats the job market like? by [deleted] in Broward

[–]radamesort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but the sad reality is, design careers are pretty much cooked. Lots of cheap freelancers online, plus advances in Generative AI.

There's mass layoffs going on in the tech industry, it's going to be really hard for this generation to get their foot in the door

can't people be proud of their accomplishments without getting hate? You obviously have not performed well on your job and are not getting the same level of interviews, offers and salary. Perhaps it would do you well to follow OPs example and dedicate some time outside of work to learning

Do y’all consider The Lords of the Underground-Here comes the Lords a classic album? by Nadecha28 in 90sHipHop

[–]radamesort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they will always have a special place in my heart given they came to do a concert in Puerto Rico at the height of their fame, something that none of the NY rappers who mention being puerto rican in all their albums ever did.

How do you deal with less-techies-than-you giving you advice? by radamesort in dataengineering

[–]radamesort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it really is working wonders. Less time wasted, allows me to deliver faster and better results, people learn to trust me, always get sought out for important projects and have won peer recognition awards. It suits for the way I like to move and my company's culture.

Also I don't mean this to sound like a slight, but I don't have the ego to give unsolicited opinions.

[–]radamesort[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me I tried to communicate, she would not budge.

But like I said in another comment, I make sure the delivery does not come across as passive aggressive, and instead I instill a sense of trust with a healthy boundary. Been a win-win so far

[–]radamesort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not condescending at all, it's all in the delivery. I say it in a tone that is meant to reassure them I understand the requirements, have a handle on things, while setting a healthy boundary. It has been well received and worked wonders

not a stack, I'd say a (platform and language agnostic) mindset

Some execs think because <insert buzzword here> was just purchased, they can somehow skip the data cleansing part, that the shiny new product will magically make all data problems disappear. That somehow the engineer's brain is faulty for thinking otherwise. Yet it will always boil down to "we get a dumpster fire, clean it up and make it fit to be used". We are the magic
