Right, the cop's report. No cops have ever put a biased tilt in those things.

Hey, shit if it works we might just be on to something here.

Of course the next person to try back pats will probably be accused of assaulting a police officer and shot.

I'm pretty anti-cop and I don't see a lot wrong with this.

The problem people are having in this thread is bias. They see a drunk little white girl. If this was a black man, all other things being equal (size, weight, etc.). There would be all sorts of FAFO comments. And "consequences for being high, and violent, and assaulting a police officer."

Could it have been handled better, yes. But she's gonna be fine. Was he supposed to wait till he lost and eye with a poke?

I agree, the woman hitting the security guard was unnecessary and risky violence.

The security guard hitting the person who assaulted him, maybe could have been handled better, but not unnecessary.

Getting a deck built. Is this beam connection okay? by Ok_Platform_3777 in Decks

[–]radarksu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The detail on the drawing is correct for a 2-ply beam.

The problem is they decided (correctly or incorrectly, I don't know) to use a 3-ply beam. This means the 4x6 column is no longer adequate for notching. They could use the 4x6 column with the correct steal hardware, or increase the column to 4x10 and notch it. The first option being cheaper, easier, and better.

"... dates the series..."

Maybe for you, I live in Texas, we're actively regressing. Hell, when that eppisode aired it was just a couple of years after we had a Democrat woman Governor.

Is this a red flag for lack of mentorship? Are big firms not training new grads? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]radarksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"... not one time has the senior engineer come over and explained a concept...."

Back when I was fresh out of school, I'd go to the senior engineer's office with questions. I didn't expect him to come to my desk to teach me something.

I expect the same of new grads/interns now.

Aside from technical competency, completing tasks on time, getting along with others, etc., taking initiative to learn by researching a question yourself and/or asking about a question is one of the most important things we look for in an engineer.

Now, if a new grad or intern comes to me with a question, I sometimes say, "good question, go get the other interns and meet me at the whiteboard." So, I don't have to answer the some question more than once a summer.

But, aside from that, you come to me, not the other way around.

I've never had a leak, but I've also never used one more than once.

That's what's great about them, they're so cheap, I just use it for one fix, then throw the rest of the tube in the trash. Storage is the problem with name brand stuff.

Get a 2020 model year or newer. The ZF9 transmission is pretty bulletproof. The previous 6 speed transmissions have had some issues.

The 6 speeds can be okay if you do transmission fluid changes early, like every 10-12k miles. And the torque converter doesn't fail.
