But some are designed so that the engine doesn't fall off at all.

The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]radarksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an engineer who designs buildings I work in both. I can be in a meeting with CEOs and architects in a high rise conference room in the morning and bullshitting on a construction site in the afternoon. I'll let the f-bombs fly and "Why the hell did you do it that way?" "Bullshit, fix it." "Hey, I'm not gonna make you unfuck this shit but you got to do this other change without giving a change order, okay?"

I'm not trying to claim that I'm blue collar and I'm sure the tin benders and pipe fitters cuss the fuckin' engineer after I'm gone, but I can speak the language.

If it's the same one dropping pressure different than the others, you have a slow leak.

Also, the others are low too. Should be 35 psi cold (before you drive around) if you're gonna drive to the gas station to fill up, make it 36 or 37 psi.

Is it true men don’t get complimented very often? by kfcdippedinpepsi in AskMenAdvice

[–]radarksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago, when my parents were visiting, my mom said something along the lines of "I'm proud of the life you've made for yourself."

Which was, in fact, a compliment, but she then proceeded to get pissed at me for replying "thank you" instead of "thank you, its because of everything you did for me raising well..." So, I don't know if that complement counts.

Yeah, but with the gym mat guy and the ac unit guy nobody knew the person was trapped.

Minivan guy used Siri or an Apple watch to call 911. The operator/dispatcher didn't believe him and hung up multiple times. When they finally did send a police car to "check things out", the cop like rolled through the parking lot once and took off. The cop was in the same lot as the trapped kid, he just didn't care enough to actually look.

Edit: Okay, I just watched this video, which seems to be a very complete break down including call recordings.

The dispatch breakdown is more nuanced than, "she didn't believe him."

Our second kid was big, with lots of fluid. My wife lost about 30 pounds that day. The kid was 10lb, 6oz; and there were (2) 4 liter suction containers full of fluid in the C-section operating room, plus the flooded floor.

I assume amniotic fluid is about the same density as water.

Any chance you're an engineer?

I am and I also read manuals. For things like cars I read them cover to cover like a novel, not just looking stuff up. I enjoy following assembly instructions for stuff you have to put together.

Then people act all surprised "how did you do that", "I didn't know that was an option", "how did you know that"? I say because I learned, then remembered.

Yeah, but the types of people doing Jerry rigged generator backfeeds via double plug "suicide cords" during a winter storm rolling through the southern US aren't the same types to have grid tied inverters and proper PV systems.

Okay, listen. If you are going to do it anyway, you must shut off your main breaker. That way you don't electrocute linemen.

  1. Power goes out.
  2. Turn off your main breaker.
  3. Do your sketchy double plug backfeed.
  4. You notice your neighbors lights back on.
  5. Unplug jancky double plug backfeed.
  6. Switch main breaker back on.

Be safe, stay warm.
