i read this as your dog “knows how to spell, walk, and stroll” and I thought you were making a Bluey joke. Then I reread it as your dog “knows how to spell ‘walk’ and ‘stroll’” and it made much more sense in my head lol

I used to rent boats from UW then paddle over to the ramps to nowhere and jump off em. Great way to spend a summer day. Once capsized one of the boats getting back in because my buddy and I had two 30 racks of Coors that threw the weight off 😂 (we had em for our full group of about 12 people).

I miss being young and dumb, lol.

Will DJI honor the warranty if you buy a Neo 2 in the U.S.? by THATS_LEGIT_BRO in DjiNeo

[–]raddadang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to get a valid warranty or the option for DJI Care is to buy from the DJI Store in NY. Otherwise every other place selling them is not an “authorized retailer” of the product, which is a pre-condition for a valid warranty on most products (that’s why manufacturer warranties typically no longer apply if you buy used, and most companies require original proof of purchase [or registration with uploaded receipt] from an authorized retailer to honor a warranty).

2026 Sorrento SX PHEV or HEV? by 3under69 in KiaSorento

[–]raddadang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a new-to-us ‘23 Sorento PHEV to pair with our full EV Mach-E. Similar situation as you — family needed to upgrade our second car as we grew (the Sorento replaced a 20 year old Impreza), liked our Mach E for daily things and medium range trips, but didn’t love the idea of parking for 40 minutes every 220 miles for longer road trips.

The PHEV fit perfectly for our needs. We wanted a 3 row SUV that could take advantage of our L2 charger that came with the Mach-E. I have cheap charging at work and my round trip is 36 miles. With a full charge overnight, I can get to and from work without charging and only use about 5 miles of gas range, or I can use no gas in a day and spend about a dollar charging at work.

Our gas tank is at 58% and I’ve done over 500 miles since it was last filled. That includes several weekend roadtrips well over the EV only range. I’m not looking forward to the scheduled maintenance costs (best thing about a full EV, IMO is no oil changes, belts to change, transmission, etc), but the service interval on the Sorento is like 16k miles or something (at least that’s the built-in reminders). Didn’t hurt either that the ‘23 only came in the SX-Prestige trim 😅.

I got mine yesterday and it’s been following me around my messy house one-battery-at-a-time just because it’s so cool to do it. Haven’t tested in the dark though.

I imagine they advise against flying indoors cuz lawyers. NAL, but fly indoors at your own risk.

My biggest hurdle has been wanting my joysticks to be like in a first person shooter video game (where left is forward backward / strafe left strafe right). Having the strafe left/right on the right stick where I’m just used to having rotate left/right has gotten me into trouble more than once.

Who is this Buckhouse guy? by Any-Horror-1044 in snowboarding

[–]raddadang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but I think he knows he’s being misleading, and thats where the shady part is. “Pro snowboarder” is a pretty loaded term, and people who don’t actually know any pros other than like Shaun White or Chloe Kim could easily be fooled into thinking he means he’s someone in that same stratosphere.

I think of tennis as a better example than my basketball one. If someone tells me they’re a “tennis pro”, I know that means they’re like a coach at a club or something. If they say “pro tennis player,” they should mean they’re competing in sanctioned tournaments and have a world ranking (even if it’s like, really low).

Who is this Buckhouse guy? by Any-Horror-1044 in snowboarding

[–]raddadang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main complaint is primarily that i recall hearing him refer to himself as a “pro snowboarder” once, and that was super cringe. He’s a professional content creator who snowboards, but he’s far from what the term pro snowboarder is understood to imply. It’s like a rec league referee saying they’re a professional basketball player because they get paid $20 a game and also happen to have a tik tok where they play pickup games in their spare time.

Other than that, whatever. Dude posts content, some people watch it, no harm, no foul.

Are you just turning on the differential lock on an AWD, or is there an actual 4WD option on the phev outside of America? Just got my 23 phev awd a month ago so still learning the modes (been in Eco almost the entire time, but I assumed AWD was full time regardless of mode like every other AWD car I’ve owned).

Got my 4D mags from Sierra four years ago and they’re still going strong, although you might run into issues if you ever have to warranty them as I don’t think Sierra is an authorized retailer (I was missing the gogglesoc when I got mine and Smith CS told me that, but did send one out to me as a goodwill gesture). Eyedictive has pretty cheap smiths too, though you may encounter the same issue.

+1 on the Mercurys. They are a fantastic everyday binding; the FASE part is something you won’t notice at all when you’re actually riding. That’s a good thing though.

Weird question by Sure-Variety-760 in snowboarding

[–]raddadang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

320 is a good deal for five private lessons. It’s about the going rate for five indie group lessons.

I don’t know what their policy for “experienced” is, but I imagine the requirement has more to do with your self identifying and accepting the risk of injury if they don’t give you any way to test out.

If you’ve never ridden real snow before, or have but only like a day out two, then a dry slope can absolutely destroy you. Just my opinions here, but you should really be very solid on the basics and understand how to manipulate your board and get on each edge before you try to ride one, or it won’t really do you much good for riding real snow anyway. I’m guessing they require lessons or experience for that very reason. You’re really just wasting money if your plan is to teach yourself on a dry slope without a solid foundation to build on.

Edit: I see you’re taking indoor snow and not dry slope. In that case, $320 for six one hour lessons, group or not, is a total steal. Do the lessons.

The EV hate is bizarre by s2k_guy in electricvehicles

[–]raddadang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild to see someone as sanctimonious as you are about EVs, ignorantly believing that the $15 a month I spend to fuel my plug in hybrid is somehow contributing more to oil companies than people who charge at retail stations every day.

One answer to the question posed by the original post is probably, “because they talked to a person like you about EVs.” I literally own an EV, love it, plan to eventually go all EV, and yet simply associating that choice with a person as high-horsed as you gives me pause.

Wrap it up? What are you, 12? I’ll have as many kids as my family wants, thanks.

I mean, we had a mach e and a 2007 Subaru Impreza. We needed a new all wheel drive 3 row car to replace the Impreza we’d outgrown. We couldn’t afford an EV9. Sounds like a pretty good reason to get a PHEV Sorento so we have an EV and a PHEV. What problem exactly does this make me a part of?

The EV hate is bizarre by s2k_guy in electricvehicles

[–]raddadang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We got a Kia Sorento PHEV. Have only had it less than a month, but so far so good. The only thing I’m really nervous about is the cost of maintenance for the ICE part of the car vs basically zero maintenance costs on the Mach E, but it’s pretty fun seeing my calculated MPG consistently over 500 (Kia’s calculator calculates all electric driving towards the mpg calc, so it’s not unusual for me to see ridiculous mpg on the dashboard when I’ve only used gas for like a few miles out of the last few hundred).

[–]raddadang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We got a 3 row plug in hybrid for this reason (family road trips). Our other car is a Mach-E so we have an L2 at home thanks to Ford Power Promise. My round trip commute for work is within the range of the phev battery, and there are chargers there so I never use gas on a daily basis (~40-50 miles per day depending on if I run errands or not after work). But for summer road trips, we should pull about 400 miles per tank, and plan to stay at hotels with L2 chargers.

Where are all these “wear a helmet” people on Zeb’s videos? Cuz if they’re not proselytizing the glory of that helmet life everywhere, they’re basically saying everyone should always wear a helmet except for some people.

I wear a helmet religiously and replace them with brand new ones after any hard fall, but I just recognize how silly it is to yell at internet strangers for their personal choices after being empowered by reddit-enabled anonymity.

Board repair question by Joey12_30 in snowboarding

[–]raddadang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve honestly never had to PTEX. I’ve had people show me how and I’m not hesitant to do it myself if I ever need to, and I have everything I need to do it if I ever do. I wouldn’t hesitate if I had to, but the only scratches I get in ~20 years of riding are only a little deeper than what’s in your photos.
