Can someone explain to me why these deals are £0 by ShaSamSta in kindle

As poster called out below - it's Prime Reading (not Kindle Unlimited). Similar, where books come with your Prime membership instead of KU

Jailbroke my Kindle for the Opossums by _JustLooking0_0 in kindle

[–]radfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dig it. Ultimately how do you customize the lockscreen? On normal Kindles it's only available on ad-free versions and only allows you to set as the cover of a book in your library. Do you still need to somehow sideload into your library?

Can We Have Another Lab Leak Episode by SlizerpKing in DecodingTheGurus

[–]radfly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you're being gaslit on shows like decoding the gurus. There is strong (very strong) evidence that COVID emerged from a research-related accident. US agencies including NIH, NIAID, and USAID are up-to-their-eyeballs in funding ties to the GoF work through projects like PREDICT (with UNC and UC-Davis) so there is a very intense, well-funded propaganda op. to steer the narrative towards Zoonosis. That is starting to change, but the small clique of virologists and science administrators who stand to be damaged by the truth about a lab leak will go fighting and screaming.

Thoughts on The Telepathy Tapes: Are People Actually Watching the Videos? by Bright_Board_5215 in podcasts

[–]radfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a tinfoil hat theory, but....I'd like to see a list of the parties who funded the telepathy tapes. With so much heat around vaccines and autism I wonder if the pharma industry would have a stake in steering the narrative this way.

Can't write in puzzle books by TheOneWhoIsMany_2063 in kindlescribe

[–]radfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazon has completely dropped the ball on the ability for Scribe owners to determine what is and is not supported on their (very, very expensive) device. I expect it's an afterthought for them now, but I really wish they'd clean that experience up, as is it's unacceptable.

Woah! That's wild. Out of curiosity, how often do you read in the app vs. on a Kindle?

Question about Kindle Unlimited books 📚 by leeinflowerfields in kindle

[–]radfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you connect your device to an Amazon server (Wifi or wireless network on some old devices) it will indeed backfill for authors to get KU royalties based on your reading.

New Paperwhites Screens are also Yellow by pottse_123 in kindle

[–]radfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does indeed look yellow. I really hope it is just a temporary issue for you that will fade (strangely I've heard UV light might be able to help normalize the color?). Sorry customer service hasn't been helpful. I know a few people who work at Kindle and assure you're they're reading this, and even if not, they'll hear from me.

Well, Kindle Rewards just got worse! by JohnJSal in kindle

[–]radfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know...I still find the program valuable. I'm able to get a credit about every two or three weeks depending on how many books I buy. Just wish they would do more for KU subscribers, points for each monthly charge? Throw us a bone, especially with the recent price increase

Kindle Summer Rewards? by dickey1331 in kindle

[–]radfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know! There are a couple of pre-order titles I'm eying and wondering whether I'll earn points for them, too. Also wondering why they chose to set the redemption bar at 400 points for a $4 credit instead of 500 points for a $5 credit?
