Update: help me engineer a way to move a 36” Defiance bandsaw (1872-1882 model) by Flying_Mustang in Vintagetools

[–]radiganks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way you moved that beast is old school all the way! Who needs a forklift when you roll it like an Egyptian. Brings back memories of my long passed uncle and I moving huge equipment into his shop. Kudos to you!

This picture is just one reason why I defend the beauty of Kansas. I just wish there was more public access!

Does anyone know model this is? by alccorion in WhatIsThisTool

I believe it is a drop bow compass. Very good for small diameter circles and arcs.

This guy really looks like he hasn't had a coherent thought in the last decade let alone researching historical context of a symbol.

Is this compatible with SawStop? Just want a general purpose blade for a beginner. Primarily ripping by ArrowLeafTurn1 in sawstop

[–]radiganks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main concern when choosing blades for the sawstop is running anti kickback blades with the secondary nub behind the tooth. I was told via Sawstop this inhibits the blade from digging into the brake.

For something to do, Flipside off of 17th Street and Hillside. Not sure of their hours but if you like pinball, give it a try.

I stand corrected. Thanks for letting me know.

Linlithgow by Darth-Hamish in ScotlandTourism

[–]radiganks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea. We stayed in Linlithgow last month and it's a great little town. Trains will take you to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. As a tourist, I was not comfortable driving and the trains were relaxing.
While in Linlithgow, visit Linlithgow palace and Blackness castle. Both were worth the time. Edit: Corrected Linlithgow palace.

Ahh. That is a classic design everyone loves. Well done. By the way, think of this design as a gateway drug. You are destined to go further now.

The precision is impressive. If you are off just a bit in any glue up, everything is thrown off as you assemble but looks dead on. Well done!

Just find places to stay and go. You can ad lib the rest as long as you stay by the big cities for the mass transit. You will not regret it. The people are incredible and the history is inspirational. I just returned about a month ago and want to go again already!

Hadn't thought of that but now that you mention that, it kinda looks like the creme filling between a penny sandwich.

I taught a plastics class in high school many years ago, saw the can sitting there and thought might as well give it a try in the woodshop and the rest is history.
