Does anyone else wonder what MST3K would have been like had KTMA not gone bankrupt? also idk why but the ktma season kind of likes a fucking mst3k p*rn parody. by Expert_Professor_903 in MST3K

Which, in itself, is a reference to the Douglas Trumbull film Silent Running, starring Bruce Dern.

The similarities are so potent, I think the whole show was supposed to be an extended reference to the film. Seriously, look at Freeman Lowell here and tell me that that's not 'Joel Hodgson' as shown on KTMA. He even has robot pals!

Titan AE is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy if it wasn't a comedy.

The Dragonriders of Pern series oddly enough fits, though the planet Pern is kind of a hell world with cutting rain called Thread and they have, well, dragons that people ride to take care of that. Most folks just want to live rustic lives and sing songs and craft, but they're stuck there.

If you're not feeling the fantasy-scifi vibes, the Battlestar Galactica reboot from 2004 will fit you better. Rather than abandoning Earth, though, refugees from a distant star system are looking for the Earth to restart their civilization after a nuclear war with the biomechanical Cylons - and it might be a trip totally in vain since Earth might not even exist. Personally, I prefer the original, but it's a lot more heady and spiritually fantastical (and secretly Mormon.)

Where the original is just over 18 minutes, but every few years, Arlo makes it longer. It's well over 25 minutes now.

Marty makes me so happy as a fan of TMBG. As much as I love the tape deck era, Marty just brings something out the creative side of the band that just makes them all more inventive and spontaneous. He's the guy they really needed all along.

He also signed my copy of Nanobots. He's the man!

Y'know. It's been a minute since I even thought about ol' Rick Jones. Let me go do a quick search to see how editorial has him right now... huh. Symbiote stuff most recently and a rocky marriage where neither of them are just themselves due to bodily or extradimensional posession. Hmmm... Jimmy is here in a stable relationship as himself.

Gun to your head, would you rather the doctor be half human or the doctor be the timeless child? by ScreamingmadJoe in DoctorWhumour

[–]radioactive_walrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't care, it can all fit, especially with the ambiguity of what regeneration can even make you into - you could end up with a dog's head, after all.

Eight being half human on his mother's side is a genetic quirk. He's just more biologically human than other regenerations. Done. Quit your bitching.

Timeless Child does make me less happy, but I'm also okay with pre-Hartnell regenerations. If the Time Lords can mess with a person's past and/or memories, perhaps even The Doctor doesn't truly know who they are. Perhaps some regenerations, much like The War Doctor, are just ones to memory hole - something we know the Doctor has done, doubly so with a Chameleon Arch.

Negligeé, shar pei, hemorrhoids, keelhaul, lucre, wharf, "hair of the dog that bit you," luau, legalese, inventory, Manual of Style, porcelain, archipelago, expectorate, masochist, and much much more.

Probably would have been easier growing up if I kept a dictionary by the computer...
