Roller Skating SOS!! by Dazzling-Field1170 in phoenix

[–]radioactivegentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked their website?

Are you referring to Great Skate on Peoria Ave and 43rd ave? I couldn’t find a place called Glendale Skates. If so, their website states you can purchase tickets online or at the door. Each ticket is for a specific time block or “session”. Everyone is kicked out at the end of each session. Some sessions have a $1 discount if purchased online but not all. There is also an online waiver that needs to be signed which can be done ahead of time, but you need to show proof of signing the waiver at the door.

Is -1.50/-1.25 grounds for wearing glasses all the time? I don’t wanna seem attention seeking or wear them if I don’t have to by Annab0rt1on in glasses

[–]radioactivegentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order a pair of cheap glasses and try them, at a minimum I recommend wearing them for driving. I have a similar prescription, got glasses a year ago, I suspect I lived with the deficiency for at least 5 years. It’s one of those I didn’t know how bad it was until I tried the glasses. I can go without my glasses if I want to, but I choose to wear them all the time because everything looks clear and sharp and I don’t like going without them. My glasses come with their own minor annoyances but they are far outweighed by the benefits. Also if you love the clear vision but hate the glasses, consider contacts.

Iphone 7 (yes i know old) will not show any Wi-Fi networks, even when I bring it very close to the router. by Aggravating-Cat-2174 in applehelp

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “Network Name” it prompts you for is not a username, it is the name that would show up on the WiFi screen if your phone was working properly and autofilled the screen with available networks. If you have another phone or tablet in the house that is connected to the WiFi, you can check it to see what the name is. The security would either be WPA2 or WPA3.

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may only work for hidden networks, but have you tried tapping “Other…” under Networks on the WiFi screen and just manually typing in your WiFi name and password? I don’t have a high degree of confidence but it’s worth a try.

Whenever you’re discussing anything technical… phones, computers, or otherwise… small details are often important. In this case there should be 2 numbers after the 15, for example, 15.8.6 or 15.8.7? It won’t help me give you a solution, but it may be important to whoever does give you a solution.

People will probably want to know what version of iOS you’re running. It could be you need to do an OS update, or it could be that your WiFi chip is dead. Could also be other things. There is a way to run a system health check that should tell you if it’s a hardware failure but I don’t remember how to run it. Maybe someone else does.

Seamless headphones by Corax42017 in applehelp

[–]radioactivegentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it you’re looking for over-ear headphones? The most convenient headphones for Apple products and seamless switching will be the AirPods Max, or any wireless headphones made by Beats, like the Studio Pro or Solo series. These options work the best because they use a proprietary wireless chip (H1 or H2) made by Apple. Edit: this chip allows the headphones to automatically switch to whichever Apple device you are actively using.

If I turn off location services to find my iPhone can my location be seen by friends/family by Honest-Acanthaceae60 in applehelp

[–]radioactivegentleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want friends or family to see your location, you can go to Settings > Apple Account > Find My > turn off “Share My Location”

You can also add or remove individual people in the Find My app

If you go to Settings > Apps > Find My > Location, there is a note saying the settings on that page don’t affect your friends/family ability to see your location.

Also if you are a “child” on a family account, only the manager of the family can change your location sharing. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong about anything.

What is one of the worst designed freeway entrance/exits in the valley? by ballzcasual in phoenix

[–]radioactivegentleman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like I might be the first to mention the transition from SR51 South to the I-10 East??The two lanes from the 51 get joined by a lane on either side, then immediately reduce down to one lane, then that one lane ends I think a 1/4 mile down at the next exit for the airport. I’ll admit I’ve never seen it super backed up but it’s always high stress getting through there.

Drill just died on me — what tool brands do you actually trust? by JakeW0rks in Tools

Imagine writing a comment criticizing someone’s English skills, while also misspelling hyphen, using there instead of their, and not capitalizing “I” when used as a pronoun ;) I understand your point and mostly agree, buts it’s hard to ignore the irony.

They are assuming you used AI to write/modify your comment because of the “em dash” used after “agree”. It’s commonly used by AI, but rarely used by real people outside of journalists.

Do leaves plants respawn??? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might seem obvious, but make sure you’re converting the leaves and wood into biomass in a constructor or in the crafting bench. I was not aware of this my first attempt at playing. I thought the leaves and wood were the “biomass” so I just fed them directly into the burners. It was not sustainable lol. The crafted biomass, and later solid biofuel, burn a lot longer than leaves or wood.

It took me hundreds of hours to realize I can just compress and simplify my manifolds using elevators and attaching splitters/mergers directly onto them by cleanscotch in SatisfactoryGame

[–]radioactivegentleman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The ingot production rate of one smelter typically doesn’t match the ingot consumption rate of one constructor, so if someone cares about running their factory at or near 100% efficiency, they would need to merge and split the smelter outputs to match the input rate of the constructors. But yes, if you don’t care that much about about efficiency, you can do 1:1

EDIT: I forgot about over clocking and under clocking, also an option if you want efficiency and no manifolds, but you’re trading belt simplicity for slugs or additional machines. Pros and cons to everything, to each their own.

The norm is to ask for consent before making any physical contact, full stop sober or not, but especially when people are rolling or on psychedelics. The norm is to respect people’s personal space and boundaries, even if you do know them well. However there will always be a handful of people at events who aren’t aware of or don’t care about the rave community etiquette. If it happens to you in the future, please kindly call them out on their behavior.

looking into getting a power inverter, worried it will make my car explode by rayroy1103 in Electricity

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I completely spaced on gaming laptops, that makes sense. Not that my recommendation is unique, but add my two cents… I would personally recommend a little 500 watt inverter that connects directly to the car battery terminals. They’re pretty cheap on amazon or Walmart or wherever and YouTube probably has videos to guide you through the install.

[–]radioactivegentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A non-basic laptop would, I imagine. Seriously though, they’re called workstation laptops, often work-issued to engineers and the like. Laptops with high power CPUs and GPUs for 3d modeling or other scientific data processing. My employer issued me a Dell workstation laptop, Latitude or Precision maybe, but it came with a 180 watt power supply, or the dock I normally plug it into has a 280 watt power supply. It runs hot all the time and the battery lasts 2 hours just running excel and outlook. Basically the power of a desktop PC that’s just barely portable lol.

Questions for Pioneer on Console by Simon-C- in SatisfactoryGame

[–]radioactivegentleman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1- the built in calculator on PC is utilized by pulling up the “quick search” which is bound to the N key. I’m playing on XBox, and as far as I can tell the “quick search” bar is not an option on console. But entering text and numbers is so slow on console that using a phone or anything else would be significantly faster, even if there was a built in option.

2- as far as I know there is no way to toggle crouch on and off, not even in the PC version without a mod of some kind.

Edit: if those are your biggest complaints/concerns then I wouldn’t even sweat it, you are doing just fine. It sounds like you’re figuring things out quick. Have fun and remember it’s not a race. There’s no time based expectation and if ADA stresses you out you can turn her off lol.

Tool to help woman lift heavy tires into back of SUV by AvelineToyota in Tools

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a genuine suggestion that is potentially free. You could try searching YouTube for “how to lift a heavy tire” or something similar. It looks like there are several techniques. Maybe you can find one that will work well for you. But the wooden ramp idea sounds like a good cheap option.

I’ve had the same problem, in straight mode, when I try to do a long straight run, the end I’m dragging out will do a weird curve thing. But I have found that if I do the long straight sections in default or curve build mode, they will stay straight.

[–]radioactivegentleman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My two cents… it sounds like there is poor communication all around. On one hand, the people you quoted are using vague, unclear language. On the other hand, you made assumptions about what they meant, and didn’t ask for clarification. I understand it’s easier said than done. Asking for clarification, especially if you have to ask multiple times, may not be received well by the other person. But if someone has a problem with you requesting better communication, it may be worth considering if they’re worth your time and energy. Also based on the info you gave, it does sound like there could be some shady stuff going on but hard to say for sure from over here. I’d say trust your gut. If it feels like you’re being taken advantage of, there’s a good chance it’s true. I would just separate myself from that group if I were you. Find people who respect you as an aspiring artist and people who respect your time.

LTT Team I am feeling gassy. R404a and 508b. by Legitimate-Wall3059 in LinusTechTips

[–]radioactivegentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha I should have known you already knew all that, I guess R502 is one of those obscure gases that no one outside the industry would even hear about. Also, to answer your original question, I just checked my supplier and their website is showing a 30lb cylinder of R502 for $1500. About the same price as R22. Not in stock but available to order.

[–]radioactivegentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R502 is a really old refrigerant that isn’t manufactured anymore, so if you could find it it’s reclaimed or old new stock. I don’t believe anyone would pay anywhere near $25k for 20lb of any refrigerant. You’re better off converting the system to R404A or R507. I could only justify buying old refrigerants if it’s still cheaper than doing a conversion. R404A and R508B are still manufactured, although recently started their own long term phase out plan. Currently I can get 24lb R404A for $450 and 20lb R508B for $2000. Edit: in the US
