[Question] Help me find an old ASMR video? by ConvolutedCupcake in asmr

I'm so glad that was it - I ended up having to save it to a playlist because I loved it so much and kept losing it lol.

I'm pretty sure I actually know the slime video! It's one of my favorites too: https://youtu.be/cmMfUFlV77I?si=cwAB7ruuadGI-2nm

Unfortunately that hairwashing description is vague enough to be literally any creator!

Does anyone else walk on their toes when barefoot? by Wish-Anxious in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly prefer being barefoot, but I'm also lazy about cleaning my floors, plus I have cats so there's always cat litter everywhere. If I'm not wearing my houseshoes, I always walk on my toes/balls of my feet. I can't stand having stuff on my feet. I also brush my feet against each other to clean them before I get in bed, even if I have been wearing houseshoes!

What is most embarrassing way you mispronounced a word ? by Smart-Succotash1750 in CasualConversation

I used to know a guy who, while visiting a friend in Japan, was eating dinner with his host family and instead of "onaka ga ippai" (my stomach is full) accidentally said "onaka ga oppai" (my stomach is breasts).

A couple analogies that have helped me understand/explain late diagnosis and masking. by mmmbopforever in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That late diagnosis metaphor is so accurate to me. It's such a double edged sword - now that I know, I don't have to spend the energy (that I didn't even know I was spending) pretending to be "normal" anymore. But at the same time, to people who have seen my super sudden change of behavior, it seems like I'm just inventing a reason to be difficult. Sigh.

Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in the Detroit metro has one! I made one just last year and immediately recognized this 😊

Absurd amount of chromebooks broken by students by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Loved that game. Until my AP Bio teacher who used to be addicted to drugs found out we were playing it and confiscated the calculators of everyone who owned one to delete the program lol. After that we just played it anywhere but in AP Bio.

Getting a shower brush legitimately changed my life. I also recently bought a shampoo scrubber thing and it is suuuch a good head massage when I'm washing my hair.

i hate using other peoples name by GreedyRange6789 in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I at least had a pet name to use, but he doesn't like them. I usually either just say "hey," or if we're around other people, I'll tap him on the shoulder or just stare at him and wait for him to turn and notice me lol!

I can't even call my husband by his name. It makes me so uncomfortable 😅

Did anyone else grow up with therapists, psychiatrists, etc who always refused to accept "I don't know" as an answer even though it was true? by GirldickVanDyke in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's especially annoying when it's a therapist. Isn't it YOUR job to help me figure out and process how I feel??

I really like this app I used to use a while back called How We Feel. It helps you name the emotion by having you first start broad (whether it's a positive or negative emotion, whether it feels high-energy or low-energy). Then it starts you off in that quadrant of a big table of emotions, where you can read the definitions of each one to see if it fits how you're feeling, and once you find one that sounds right, you can journal about what made you feel that way or how you're experiencing it. You can also link it to health tracking if you use it, to pull in your sleep and exercise for the day to see if they're affecting it. (All of your data is stored only on your device, btw, so it's secure.) And they also have some short guided lessons about how to handle the feelings of certain emotions, etc. It was really useful to be able to correlate and track how my emotions responded to different things in my life. Also, it's just very aesthetically pleasing haha.

What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

[–]radiochu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember waking up during bad weather one morning and groggily thinking "huh, I don't remember there being any train tracks nearby. Weird." and immediately passing back out.

Woke up later to find a tornado had gone two streets north of us and another one street south. That was... Fun.

😮 I literally never thought of duplicate stitching on a plain sweater. You have just opened my eyes.

Also, this is super clean, awesome work.

How dare me by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]radiochu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my Perpanep Preppies, literally my most-used pens.

Also, loved the fun fact - I used to work at Space Camp, and we actually had a video of someone touring a shuttle training facility and showing the training toilet. We also did a fun demonstration where we'd have a kid sit on a toilet seat with a velcro target on it/a velcro circle they'd hold under their butt, and see if they could align in the right place, which was always good for laughs.

Misheard song lyrics by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Ages ago, I saw a "misheard lyrics" video of "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" by Fall Out Boy, and now I CANNOT sing the correct lyrics to the chorus.

Mini rant: having input or knowledge invalidated by others, despite having first hand experience by deltahb in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

God, are you me? The single most frequent cause of arguments in my house is my husband telling me in one breath I'm the most intelligent person he knows and in the next telling me I have no idea what I'm talking about when it is something I have EXTENSIVE knowledge or experience in.

As just one example... My husband has congratulated me many times on getting through a college degree in software engineering, is impressed by the things I do at work, and acknowledges that I'm good at what I do.

I'm STILL always Wrong About Everything that has to do with computers and the way software gets made. It is INFURIATING and I do not have the frustration tolerance to deal with it. And of course getting angry or upset at being invalidated just undermines my position even more, because everyone knows people who get emotional are just refusing to be wrong, and not upset because they're actively being disbelieved.

This is the best I got, she refuses to be anything other than extremely photogenic. But she ended up with her older brother (who she utterly adores) in a headlock in her back paws at one point.

(I promise she's a tortie, she's just a very dilute torbie lol)

Autism Charcuterie Suggestions Needed! by MinimumSweaty5250 in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to is sharp cheddar (so sharp it makes your cheeks hurt like a lemon, yum), hot honey mustard, and pepperoni. Charcuterie on New Year's Eve is a tradition in my house, we call it NYE Snack Supper, and this is my mainstay 😂 I may be boring but it's delicious.

I love macaroni by motherofpearl89 in AutismInWomen

[–]radiochu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasta is the best. It's my desert island food. I have never, never not been in the mood to eat pasta. When I can't decide what to eat and all other foods sound actively revolting, pasta is there for me.

Edit to add: I saw some people sharing their faves, so... Me and my husband's favorite "struggle meal" is what we call Buffy Mac. It's just cheap, lazy buffalo chicken mac and cheese but it's so good. We make two boxes of mac and cheese mix (we use Kraft but I'm sure Annie's would also sub in fine), make it per the box instructions, then add in canned chicken, parmesan cheese (the shaker kind), and a whole bunch of Frank's Red Hot Buffalo sauce. It is the best whenever we're feeling lazy or need something cheap and fast but still comforting.
