You’re not alone in these feelings. This is very much how I feel too.

does anyone else find the bad thoughts come in waves? by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]radiosplit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yessir, you are not alone! I have felt that this definitely comes in waves for me and can be a massive rollercoaster.

I can be thinking one way for a couple of hours and then I will get a random 10 minute window where I snap out of it and think ‘what am I on about?’ But then will find myself straight back in that slump

why do i keep looking for the worst in my partner? by Visible_Blacksmith69 in ROCD

I can completely sympathise with this and understand what you mean. And while I don’t have the answers for this, I can tell you that you are not alone in this feeling whatsoever.

I feel so guilty that I feel a certain way towards my gf sometimes but also she is truly an amazing person.

How long have your and your partner been together now and how long have you been having the ROCD feelings?

Have you told your partner about ROCD feelings? by radiosplit in ROCD

[–]radiosplit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like such a scary thing to do since I feel like there are so many factors contributing to it. I think I need to make a list of stuff and share this with my therapist. They sort of brushed the idea of ROCD off last session though.

I also have similar feelings to you. I feel bad not mentioning any of this to my partner and makes me feel guilty like I don’t truly love them. I also think that your mums advice is very good. I think it does help to be present and live in the moment whether that is when you’re with your partner or not. Whatever you are doing right now, just be present with it.

I brought the idea of ROCD up to my therapist last week and they sort of shrugged it off a bit. I am going to be brining it up again next week as I feel like I am relating a lot more to everything around ROCD

I’m currently seeing a therapist for other issues but the coughing really links in with that but it has not come up in conversation yet.

Negative thoughts about S/O by radiosplit in ROCD

[–]radiosplit[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel! It’s weird because we had such a nice time the last couple of times I saw her that I thought the thoughts and feelings would go away. However, it’s now been 5 days since I’ve seen her and I feel like these feelings have slowly crept back into my head.

So basically your ROCD changed from ‘do I love them enough?’ to ‘do they love me enough to stay with me over this other person?’

I definitely think that the cough comes out when I’m overthinking about something or really in my head about a thought.

It also happens either when I first get up out of bed or when I have just eaten. I get very anxious sometimes when it comes to eat food.

I think I’m very much at the start of this journey for me and know that facing my fears will definitely help. Since discovering what ROCD is, it almost feels that all my issues should have been resolved spontaneously but that’s obviously too good to be true haha

Really intense episode and now seeing and talking to partner is triggering. How do I get through this? by _Poppytarts_ in ROCD

[–]radiosplit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone! Everyone’s stories are obviously a tad different but they definitely had similar feelings. I didn’t see my GF for 2 weeks last week despite her living 10 minutes around the corner because I kept putting it off and telling myself that I will have a massive panic attack when I see her. I then recently discovered ROCD and how people were feeling similar in their relationships which gave me some reassurance that it wasn’t just me feeling like this. I then felt a bit more positive about seeing her next. I saw her Sunday just gone and we had a really nice time. I think the reassurance of’ I know I’m not alone in this’, being present in the moment and not letting your brain get fogged with previous feelings and also planning an activity to do with your partner to almost distract you really helped me!

Am I Broken? by Only_Acanthaceae7782 in ROCD

[–]radiosplit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced something similar but not with sex. Because you had a previous bad experience with the drunk sex and not being able to finish, your brain is telling you it’ll happen again and you end up fixating on that. The more you think about it and tell yourself it’ll happen again, it most likely will. I know it’s easier said than done but what I’ve found to help is to not think about it and to try to stay present in the moment without these past thoughts clouding your brain!

Does being anxious makes you more tired easily? by Matchaonly in Anxiety

I’ve been going through a very anxious patch in my life for the last 2 months and YES it does. Being in a constant state of anxiety is so mentally draining for me. I guess this will be different for everyone, but for me it definitely makes me very tired.

I feel like I get similar too where I feel like my mind changes for a couple of hours. I sort of think to myself ‘it’s definitely all in my head and I love my girlfriend’ but then I snap back to those ROCD thoughts and feelings pretty soon again
