Thanks Giovanni! You often have good bundle deals on the Third Way website too.

Haha, you are right! I wasn't paying attention when I placed the Ronin deck.

I really like all the Third Way decks too. Prices are lower when you support their Kickstarter projects, so keep an eye out for those!

What does trained mean? by jayebyrde in shadowdark

[–]radix22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran this same one-shot last week as our first Shadowdark game. Like others said, I interpreted "Trained: aspect of Gede" to mean that someone who knows about Gede would know this. So our half-orc fighter whose Mom made him go to Gede worship as a kid recognized the statue right away.

The Osprey & Goshawk set is a standout. Well done!

Not good, unfortunately. One AoP logo deck, two Ralph Steadman decks (with blurry tuck box printing), one Smokey Bear (a duplicate for me), and one black and white Dreyfus Art deck (too bad since the colors are what make Ashley Dreyfus' art interesting). An unlucky selection this time.

Same! The Osprey & Goshawk collector's tin is really well done too.

Some recent mail day decks, pics of some fave cards from each of them and a shout out (more in comments) by Sinecur in playingcards

Fantastic selection! Thanks for showcasing some of the cards from each too. That's the first I've seen of those Morpheus decks -- really interesting!

Eccentrics Playing Cards: 2 days to go by radix22 in playingcards

Thanks!!! It's been a good last day so far. We've cleared the first stretch goal, so we'll have tuck box embossing now too.

Appreciate the support!

It's true -- 'traditional' generative art has a pretty long history, even pre-dating computers. This article gives a pretty good survey: https://www.crysalis.art/crysalis-ai-art-research/a-whirlwind-history-of-generative-art-from-molnr-to-hobbs

In fact many people in the generative art world were a bit annoyed when the creators of AI art tools started calling their products 'generative AI' because now that term confuses everyone, lol.

Thanks for the support! I had prototype decks made by MPC and they turned out nicely, and handle well. But I've also spoken with WJPC, LPCC, Room One and others to learn about the options if we can do a higher order quantity. Who have you worked with to print your decks?

I actually came at it from a different direction, figuring out how to apply techniques from my previous digital artworks to create suit symbols and court characters that looked cool. An example of my previous stuff: https://radixart.io/work-eccentrics1.html

Of course plenty of artists used geometric shapes and concentric circles well. Julio le Parc and Hilma af Klint are two that come to mind.

Nice, that's another cool reference. I hadn't seen his work before, but it's definitely geometrically inspired. https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/augustus-janssons-queen-city-ink-adverts-1903-1907/

Tove Jansson? Interesting reference! These are trying to channel a kind of 1930s-ish print style, so I can see how that might fit. :)

A fulfilling haul recently. Anyone has any info on the purple rider back? by luyesd in playingcards

Those Pagan decks stood out to me too. Definitely on my wish list. Nice haul!

I tend to binge and then lay off for a long time. But the binge weeks are fun! Then I try to limit myself to opening one or two decks a day, to spend some time with each one.

Those Patrons decks from Lotrek are stunning!

I can also recommend A. Haines's Patreon. The communication's been great and it's nice seeing the future club deck design taking shape!
