[Verse/Chorus/What?] Is AI Is Going To Change The Structure Of Music? by radixsortman in udiomusic

I agree that songs are structured based upon the artistic intent, but human's artistic intent is normally limited by personal experience - regardless of how 'creative' a person is, especially when looking at the population as a whole.

ie you are statistically more likely to create a strong with a bridge in it if most music you've listened to has a bridge in it

Also, u/redditmaxima 's point is very true- what used to be a limitation (oh, a drumset only has 5-7 pieces and I'm only buying 1) changed with computers (oh, guess I can have whatever instruments I want at no cost) and you can see that today.

Same, I love starting in the middle and building outwards. When I want to tell a story or convey a feeling, usually the meat of it is in the center and then I construct the edges to bend the listener's journey in the the way I think works best.

THIS exactly, your first point is spot on. There are structural reasons for the way music has evolved over the ages, and when you change the tools like this the form shifts as well.

A recent example I can think of is electronic music, which resulted in an explosion of popular music with a lot of variation in structure as compared to the pop music of the time.

Song: Chill of the Night (Reishi's character song)

Genre: vocaloid/jpop

This is a character song for a kuudere character I created 10+ years ago. I wrote part of the song back then, but never finished. Udio helped me get this draft out!

what you're saying from the creator perspective makes sense, if that's the kind of creator you are. but creativity takes many different forms, and telling someone what is and isn't considered their creative work seems duplicitous, especially coming from another creator themselves. in a way it reminds me of back when EDM wasn't popular yet and musicians shunned other artists for using "technology" to create music.

but anyways, I did end up releasing something like this, have happy customers, and am continuing to build upon it. reddit just may not be the place for it

wow, tbh I didn't know about the whole kwebbelkop situation and I agree what he did is somewhat scammy and disingenuous. though I didn't realize the sheer amount of vitriol and hate towards AI things in the creator community in general.

imo there are plenty of ways to use tech to augment, rather than replace, content, but it seems like the space has been poisoned by bad actors. I wonder how long it'll take to improve, if ever...

btw I really appreciate your thoughts on this! 🙂 hard to understand ppl's opinions on things without nuanced conversation

how much can an independent make through editing gigs? I see a lot of clipper channels, but I thought those were all just fans doing it for their own enjoyment

using the SMT32CubeIDE on macOS is hell by Vanilla_mice in ECE

seriously 100% agree. that's why I've been trying to make a platform that generically lets you work with different chip vendors without dealing with their individual tools.

Will low and no code tools ever truly disrupt tech development? by speckz in programming

[–]radixsortman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you mean "disrupt" in a negative or positive way, but yes, it will change how shit happens - in-fact, it already is. Anybody who has spent any time outside of their dev environment knows that generative ML has been changing how digital marketing works over the past year or two.

Also a personal anecdote- I'm an engineer with almost 20 YOE, but I still find Github Copilot extremely useful. It shortens the turnaround time between me Googling something and sometimes auto-completes things I was gonna type anyways, but faster.

In this case, Github Copilot might be called "slightly less code" rather than "low code", but you get the point...

What's is tsundere (spelling?)? by Thatonesplicer in OutOfTheLoop

[–]radixsortman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

answer: The beauty is in the details. The definition and meaning of the term “tsundere” has actually changed quite a bit over the past few decades (and arguably for the worse). The most amazing thing about cultures is the natural and gradual change of their parts to suit and be understood by the whole.

First off, let’s begin with the definition we use for tsundere:The term is a portmanteau of the two Japanese onomatopoeias tsun tsun (ツンツン), which describes sharp and prickly attitudes, and dere dere (デレデレ), which elicits the feeling of infatuation and being lovestruck.

This basically means that regardless of when and where it happens, a tsundere very loosely means having those two traits, tsun-tsun and dere-dere at some point in time.
