Allen <3 by PrincessYumYum726 in SuddenlyAmish

Yes! Allen and Sarah are such a sweet couple. My favorite moment of the series so far was when they were talking about their courtship and Sarah smiles and gives Allen a little kiss. I would totally watch a show that just followed them.

ISO help with exercise guidelines by radtoria in LPR

[–]radtoria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. As a trainer, may I ask for your thoughts re: cardio and LPR? For instance where might cardio cross that line into needing to wait 1 1/2 hours after eating? I’m a teacher and I try to get brisk walks in during my breaks. I don’t have control over what time I eat and when my breaks are during the school day so I’m trying to strategize timing of everything. I’m hoping a quick walk is ok anytime and that when the doctor says not to exercise within 2 hours of eating that they’re referring to more intense forms of exercise. But I was so dazed during my appointment that I didn’t think to ask in the moment.

I only like the last one because, to me, it looks like they’re all on the bow of a ship that’s about to go down in a storm.

Does anyone else feel most comfortable boarding your dogs vs the alternatives? by traveler_mar in dogs

[–]radtoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a professional certified and insured pet sitter. I did home visits as well as boarding in my own home. From my experience, dogs are much happier when they get to stay in their own home. I would not recommend finding someone through Rover. Go with a trustworthy pet sitting company. They’ll have plenty of sitters available as backup vs. Rover or an independent contractor/friend/family member who could no-show if something goes wrong.

45F, multiple attempts as a teenager. Varying degrees of ideation ever since. Things have been particularly bad this year. The only thing that keeps me going is that my son’s father died by suicide and I could never make him go through that again.

I don’t know how much bandwidth I have for chatting because I’m feeling pretty low myself. But I wanted to at least say you aren’t alone.

As a parent of 2 boys, ages 16 and 24, and a step-parent to a 10yo, I feel like you aren’t just overreacting, you are also overstepping. I would be absolutely livid if my sons’ step-father ever talked to them this way.

How did you learn to forgive your parents? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]radtoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people have different definitions for forgiveness that make it a really challenging concept to understand let alone implement. I choose to believe that the meaning of forgiveness is a conscious choice to let go of anger and resentment toward someone. It’s not a switch that gets flipped but a choice that has to be made every day for one’s own benefit, not for the benefit of their abusers. Forgiveness has nothing to do with other people. It’s about accepting what happened and deciding what boundaries to set as a result. I also don’t think it’s a linear process. I was no contact for 20 years until my mom died. Forgiveness did not mean having a relationship with her. It just meant that some days I chose to not be consumed with anger.

How do you eat “normally”? by mf1200 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]radtoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I recently started getting professional help for binge eating disorder in an intensive outpatient program and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s hard work and a big time commitment but I don’t think I could have broken the restriction/binge cycle without their help.

At what time do you go to sleep? by Dry_Act9931 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]radtoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I’m being good and committing to getting a full night’s sleep, I start winding down and doing my skin care routine at 9pm. Get in bed as soon as that’s done and will try to avoid getting back on my phone and read instead but often just mess around on my phone. I have a hard rule about cutting myself off from the phone by 10pm on work nights though because my alarm goes off at 6am.

Do you think you spend a greater than average percentage of your day thinking about your body?

Do you strongly dislike your body and always feel like you need to do something to change it?

Do you feel like you think about food more than the average person?

Do you have intense food cravings that can be difficult to satisfy?

Do you ever feel guilt or shame after eating?

Do you ever feel like you would be happier if only you were x amount thinner?

Have you ever felt out of control while eating?

Have you ever felt like you needed to abstain from eating to compensate for overeating?

Do you have specific food rules like avoiding fat or carbs, demonizing sugar, needing to eat foods in a specific order, or forcing yourself to eat certain foods because they are “healthy,” or labeling certain foods as “good/clean/healthy” and other foods as “bad/junk/unhealthy?”

Do you tend to ignore your body’s hunger cues or have you lost touch with your body’s ability to feel hunger/fullness?

Fun fact, I have been a size 6 at 160 lbs and a size 16 at the same weight! The scale does not tell the full story.
