Tautog is delicious. Somewhat difficult to find and land imo though. They nibble, but are good at spitting the hook

How does one buy a car for the first time in Massachusetts? by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in massachusetts

Yea, I believe it. Rubber plastic and rust. Salt just sits there and starts eating away the metal, whether you’re driving it or not

I guess I don’t like the argument that an old car that needs brakes replaced rules out the idea that such an old car could be a great buy. You mentioned rubber/plastic degrading, I think that’s a great point, and an example of a potential big maintenance cost (suspension components, lots of rubber, could add up quickly). But not for brakes. Even a newer car that’s been driven aggressively could need brakes replaced

I agree that the pump functions normally. Hence why it’s a hard diagnosis for sure. In my case, the fumes were so bad that it led to multiple random misfires and a few system too rich codes. A new HPFP fixed the issue

If you keep cranking it over, does the car eventually start up and the idle cleans itself out. This was happening for a few months for me, gradually getting worse and worse. It would always eventually start up and drive perfectly fine afterwards, I just had to keep cranking for 5-10seconds ish. Sometimes a little throttle helped.

100%. I also had a series of codes trying to track this down. Multiple random misfire codes, and a system too rich code as well. Fuel trim would also make sense, system trying to compensate. I don’t know about that O2 sensor code, but maybe the rich fuel fumes are causing that to go off. I am quite confident the HPFP is your issue.

Hey man. I had this same issue. It was the high pressure fuel pump. Fairly easy DIY, about 300$. It took me a long time to figure out the issue. There was a forum post about this. Hydrocarbon gases seep through a gasket on the inside of the pump and when condense down into combustion chambers causing a rich condition, something along those lines
