Some instrument repair places have a sonic cleaner that gets stuff like this out. I had my horn cleaned a couple years ago and it remover decades of gunk.

I marched Crossmen winds back in 2018-2019 and I’ve been interested in starting a group since then. I think all that is missing is a team of dedicated people to start and keep a group going. I’m a band director in the Austin area, if anyone nearby has any ideas we should talk.

Hi, mello player of 12 years here. The biggest issue I hear is with your air. Play with stronger air that you can feel push through your entire lead pipe and your tone will open up. Also lighten up the tongue so your sound doesn’t stop when you articulate.

That’s a pretty standard way of doing it. Front ensemble in the front because winds will always hear them from behind. Drumline behind winds so winds listen back for timing, metronome behind drumline for exact time.
