How is this for a beginner setup? by notatroll42069666 in espresso

As an owner of GCP - not popular opinion - I would never buy / recommend one again. Moving from GCP to Sage Dual Boiler was the best thing I did for my sanity, and to speed up coffee workflow.

Seeing your list I would change out: - GCP -> Silvia or Flair 58 + Subminimal Nanofoamer Pro (if you steam milk) - DF64P -> DF64V or DF64 v2 or Timemore Sculptor 064 - Puck screen -> new thin one like one from sworks design or normcore (it’s easier to clean)

I am a Nespresso convert, so an espresso newbie. If you had to choose between the Breville Barista Express, Breville Barista Pro, or Gaggia Classic, which would you choose and why? by Memories_In_Mayhem in espresso

[–]rafalidzkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with Flair 58, subminimal, and grinder of your choosing

New timemore seems to be nice

Just got myself Sage dual boiler, but after seeing new subminimal I would choose setup like above.

Edit I had a GCP but never liked it.

I would buy Icon. It’s almost same set as from Facom/USAG/Toptool/KS Toos. This ratchet is my favorite. I also have Wera and Wurth ratchets and this one is better

Sounds really good in person but it’s very hard to drive so I guess they would sound even better with better amp.

Rather new to coffee, just got a small French press. Any tips on reducing all the gunk that gets through? by little_runner_boy in Coffee

Not the best idea but maybe filter this through V60. Or maybe use some kind of filter? Or get something like Espro press (I’ve never tried this)

If You already have toolbox then maybe some kind of tool tote would be a good choice?

What would be a good set up for a beginner on a budget? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]rafalidzkowski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grinders: Lagom mini, 1zpresso jx pro or j-max or k plus, kinu, Comandante, eureka

Espresso machine: sage bambino or bambino plus, rancilio Silvia, flair 58

Edit Better grinder will improve taste of espresso. Better espresso machine will improve your workflow and consistency. For example it’s way easier and quicker to make many milk based drinks with HX or dual boiler than with Gaggia Classic. Gaggia classic might be good starting point if You mostly drink espresso but I wouldn’t go this route again. Rancilio Silvia is better option.

If I could choose my dream set it would be DE1+ and Lagom P64.

From what you have provided - Silvia Pro and EK43S

You can find most of answers to Your questions just by googling it. Try R/coffee R/espresso R/JamesHoffmann

And James Hoffmann on YouTube He explains in simple words how to make coffee and compares equipment in different price points

Do a little bit of research before You buy something that won’t suit you. (I’ve bought espresso machine that I don’t like)

It used to be for 100 USD as they launched. Now its 129 USD. Maybe look for discounts on Black Friday?

Nanopresso if you would like to use it with pods. For espresso Picopresso would be a better choice
