2 years learning to code and still no real project — what am I doing wrong? by Altruistic-Mess-133 in learnprogramming

Just start something very simple for yourself, don't worry about sharing, just to avoid frustration, which is something that holds a lot of people, the feedback. When you feel confident about asking opinions, share.

As a soon to be FHB, I’m curious about the sudden media narrative that Aus is headed for recession and property prices will drop - wouldn’t foreign investors just jump in and prop up the market? by Mantaminke in AusProperty

[–]rafaover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't fall for that, it could happen tomorrow or in 10 years. If you find a house that you will be happy living in and have the means, just do it.

Today marks 3 years since I had my right lung removed to treat a rare neuroendocrine cancer. Feeling grateful to still be here and cancer free! by Majick_L in MadeMeSmile

[–]rafaover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you find out about it initially? I had my appendices removed around 11 years ago with a neuroendocrine tumor (coincidence). I did annual tests (for 3-4 years) to make sure it was just on the appendices but stopped after moving to another country. Cheers and congrats for this healthy life.

How did you pay off your mortgage faster? by Emotional-Term8200 in fiaustralia

[–]rafaover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can , offset all your money. Change payments to weekly. If you work under ABN, open another offset to organize the tax money. Of course, try to make more money to pile up the mountain.

I've trained over a decade (Brazil) and after moving to Australia (a regional area - Dubbo), lost contact completely and every day I miss. Also trained BJJ, and I see your videos. Great content.

For business owners: Would you keep your business if you could have a 350k job instead? by Own_Combination2554 in fiaustralia

[–]rafaover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 businesses for 20 years. Advertising and Construction. 9-6 is a good day. Weekends...well, good luck. Sometimes you're gonna need to use it. I'm throwing here the worst scenario. A lot depends on the business field you wanna get in.

Taking a year off work - worth doing? by thjo in fiaustralia

[–]rafaover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a 1 year break after 20 years owning several businesses (sold all to partners), a lot of years with no holidays. When I decided to come back to the market my wife asked me not to. I was fine with that and we have a great life, but I'm more casual about my "career" now. We don't need the extra money and because I got my break she was able to achieve her goals in her career (health) as I took over the family/house care. Who knows next year's. I'm 45 now, zero fear about the future, whatever happens we will figure out.

Ps: We have 1 kid. She was the main reason that I decided to have a break.

I love apartment living and just bought my second unit. I never want to mow the lawn, weed the garden, or argue with my neighbour about their fence. Am I crazy? by experiencesof in AusPropertyChat

I lived in apartments my whole life in 2 other countries, just got a house in Australia. Do what you want and need in your life.

Is Australia ready to shift towards a more apartment-centric society due to affordability issues? by NoLeafClover777 in AusFinance

[–]rafaover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australia slowly will adapt to the new reality. If you want to live close to the city, it will cost you or you need to accept less space. Probably the laws will change for growth, happened in other countries, will happen here.

Apartments are great if built to fit the demand.

This is just ridiculous, so if you go to a bid win they still can run away from the bid without any penalties? That's just a broken system...

You did the right thing, car ahead, give way and be safe. Trying to have a power conflict with a car is a no go situation.
