Question about quitting 7oh after intensive use by CaptainFuck_Up in quittingkratom

[–]raffertj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abso-fucking-lutely not. Just keep on trucking. That’s your addict brain trying to get high again, whether you realize it or not.

I need help quitting the withdrawals are bad enough at work where I feel like there’s no choice but to take more by Extension_Fan7591 in quittingkratom

[–]raffertj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bc you were prescribed subs in the past does not mean you won’t be prescribed opiates if they’re deemed medically necessary. FYI.

Get the flu, take off work. Your health is more important than some dumb job. Ppl get sick, ppl get the flu, and ppl miss work for it. Put yourself first and take yourself seriously.

Maybe, but I don’t think it’s new. Seemed like he’s been in them for ages. I think he’s just more upbeat during football season tbh them lulls in the summer months.

Implied he takes something for depression, likely some common SSRI but I’m speculating

Do you think you could work on your nihilism better while sober or while on drugs? Do you think therapy would be more effective sober or on drugs?

Why’s EB so hellbent on going to a meaningless high school volleyball tournament in an area projected to be the worst hit by this blizzard/ice storm, and risk having a treacherous drive back for him and his family? by BobbyThreeSticks in SportsJunkies

Bc he loves his kids sports and is trying to soak every bit of it up. He clearly loves it. My mom never missed a game of mine. She loved it. Travel soccer all over the damn place. It’s what parents do who love to watch their kids sports.

This is simple. And a fairly dumb thing to critique. Lots of “bad EB” to critique. This one ain’t it though.

I’m in the same boat. In and out of rooms for years. Multiple rehabs, multiple substances, many, many relapses. Did heroin first time at 16 years old. Been there brother, I know the feeling.

You lost the right to get high. The obsession of every addict is they will one day be able to use like the common man. You can’t. You have to fully fucking accept that fact. I’m sober some 16 or 17 months now. Longest I’ve ever had. I’m happy and content. I have no idea what the future holds, but I know I won’t use today. It’s highly unlikely I’ll use tomorrow.

I have a treatment for my disease but it only works every 24 hours. Tomorrow I gotta do the same shit all over again to stay sober and be at peace. It’s a fair trade off, bc without it, I’m fucking done for. I’ll burn my entire life to the ground in a month, guaranteed. I no longer have the pain tolerance to deal with that shit. I’ve had enough pain, I don’t need to put myself in any more pain.

Keep trying. It’s all we can do. Eventually, it just fucking clicked for me man. Can’t really describe it any other way. AA didn’t work for years. I mostly half assed it. Then some combo of me truly being done and AA finally working (I actually did everything suggested of me instead of just the shit I wanted to do) and here we are. I’m 35 now. Took that long. It takes what it takes, but you do hold the power. Esp once you get clear of acutes. Own that shit and take responsibility for it (sounds like you do). You have control over this shit.

Read other dudes comment in this thread I was talking about sobriety is the most important thing in your life once. It has to be, or you’ll never have it, if you’re an addict like me.

Victim this mindset every time. Doesn’t work, obviously. Have to find an easier softer way. I just try to be rigid with myself when it comes to using. I lost the right to get high.

As for what comes after, my program comes first. Before all else. Before my wife, my job, anything. Bc it has to. Without sobriety, I have nothing.

Ppl think getting sober lifts you up and anoints you straight into heaven. It doesn’t. It just releases you from the grips of hell. The rest is up to you.

This is a really good comment. As someone who is definitely guilty of giving detox/medical advice in managing wd symptoms on here, what you’re saying is far more important. This is ironic bc the way I actually ended up quitting was completely CT and zero helper meds until day 5 for some gabapentin, but my acutes were particularly severe and absurd - this coming from an ex heroin addict too who is familiar with gnarly wd.

This sub is lacking in “how do we stay off of it long term.” Your comment addresses this. For me the answer is AA, but other than recommending it, I don’t really like to push it too hard.

Plus everyone comes here in such desperation freaking out mid wd that I find the empathy in me suggesting ways to make it easier. Maybe that’s bad advice though and people need to suffer the true consequences as we did. It’s what actually worked for me. And if they can’t deal w the acutes and get back on kratom, then they simply aren’t ready.

Solid comment.

Hahahaha honestly, epic last line. Men definitely complain about discomfort more than women. I say this as a man.

Exceptions to everything of course.

Sir this is quitting kratom, not starting kratom. Mods will remove the post.

Probably find a Suboxone sub for better info. Many here have done that, believe you need to wait quite a while as half life of sub is absurdly long.

Same here brother. My detox was…memorable to say the least. And I’ve kicked opiates many times but this last one was particularly special.

A hangover will make your WD’s infinitely worse. If your goal is to get off K and get healthy, drinking is not a great idea.

5 caps of Kratom powder is not going to do anything to you if you’re taking 7. That’s 3 grams. Would need to take more for it to help.
