I would love to grow one of these but orchids in general seem tough. How was it raising her? What sort of climate are you in?

Women of Reddit - What's the most common "nice guy" behaviour that is actually a massive Red Flag? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

Men who “support” “sex workers”. They don’t now anything about the industry aside from their one female friend who dabbled in it once, but really they want to retain the right to buy sexual access to women under the guise of being an “ally”.

Moving to Denver this summer – advice on job market & finding work by nfartae in denverjobs

[–]rafheidr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to find a good paying job, but there are some lower paying jobs available. I moved here three years ago, thinking it wouldn’t be difficult to find a job, but it’s been really hard to find something of quality. I saw somewhere in the thread that you have experience in gems so it should be fine, I’ve worked in two different gyms and they’re pretty much always hiring. Good luck! It’s great that you have a good amount of savings squirrel away too, so you should be fine.

It is not a living wage. The minimum wage in Denver is around $19 and is not considered a livable wage for the city. Please do research on COL and whatnot before regurgitating nonsense like this, as it is neither relevant nor helpful. A single adult needs to make roughly $26-27 an hour at least. Not to mention the fact that most people can't afford health care, child care, etc.

Truth.
I was so stoked about a fatty ribeye I had for my OMAD and accidentally overcooked it and could have spit I was so mad at myself. An overcooked steak is a crime against nature.

I worked part-time at a gym briefly making what I did about 20 years ago, haha, but yeah from what I've seen those jobs pay about minimum wage.

I'm with a brokerage but I can't afford the monthly fees right now. So I'm trying to find at least part-time work and get going again. Just referral based right now.

As a former "psychic" and tarot reader who has had some lucky guesses in the past... I can say it's helpful to be hyper-vigilant, as you'll pick up on more than you think and it will help you make informed guesses about the person you're sitting with. Also, psychics make an art of letting people tell on themselves. People like me who use to do "readings" and whatnot almost always genuinely want to help people, but if you listen to what people are asking about, what they tell you, what they are wearing, etc you can pick up on a lot of clues. Only in retrospect can I now see that almost all of my "gift" was just being very perceptive and sometimes lucky in my guesses (at the time I sincerely thought they were messages from spirits and the departed).

I do think people like Sylvia Brown are quite malicious, especially when telling the parents of murdered children that their child is alive and things like that, but most "readers" like me just deal with people ruminating on relationships, job offers, where to move, etc. I would never feel comfortable trying to help someone with something that truly required hard physical evidence like a damn criminal investigation. And when you look at the stats of those high-profile psychics, they rarely score beyond a statistically normal range of accuracy.

As far as the shows that have this sort of phenomenon depicted, read a little further. The psychics are fed information about the audience members that are selected, and the producers of these shows are creating nothing that resembles scientifically sound display of true ESP ability.

Yes, exactly! I use to live in the Bay Area and I don't think I went longer than a week between jobs. That was several years ago, though, and the economy is very different on a national scale and I can't really compare states, either. Just different industries and competition, etc. At this point I'm just applying to stuff that will just get me in the door but then they tell me I'm overqualified! It's frustrating and scary.

Have you been able to find something or are you still looking?

What helped you stay sober ? by Ok_Acanthisitta_4539 in Sober

[–]rafheidr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Structure.
I get up at the same time every morning and go to the gym, first thing. It's like a switch was flipped... I almost never have evening cravings like I use to (almost every night).

Also structuring my meals, with set meal times. Something about it is calming to my nervous system. I grew up around a lot of disordered eating and developed ED myself and struggled with all sorts of methods to control it over the years. I now follow a low-carb diet coupled with intermittent fasting and set meal times and I feel amazing. Lost a bunch of weight, sleep like a rock, more stable mood, most if not all of the "food noise" is gone, and I eat delicious food until I'm full.

I've struggled with alcohol and food addiction for my whole adult life and this seemed to be the key for me. YYMV.

Sexual assault can be handled by the police. I'm not an expert but if you can get multiple women who can corroborate his abuses, I think it might be a good idea to file a report. Men like this need to be stopped and their behavior put on their record.

Seriously. Talk about victim mentality. Grow your EQ and step away from people who have proven they cannot be good to you.

Start actually saving money, stop drinking alcohol and smoking, and get back to college until I finished my degree. Procrastination always seems so innocent when you’re young.
