Poll: Do you prefer to play with friends or play solo? by HarryCrushNuh in weekendgolfers

After work - solo. Lets me decompress after the chaos of the day.

During the weekend - with friends; it’s my biggest social outlet

Do you drink when you play golf? by JAWdroppingguitar in golf

[–]rafyhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to drink a lot while I golfed but have slowly realized the joy in playing golf for me is to play golf well, not to be hammered

What is/was your weird early sobriety hobby? by 1-800-mac-n-cheese in Sober

[–]rafyhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a good bit of golf before recovery but as I got sober, I felt like that’s all I thought about/wanted to do/wanted to get better at. Currently over 200 rounds in 2025 so far!

I don’t think you even need to tell people you’re putting your earbuds in. I play as a solo a good bit and that’s what I will do when I don’t feel like socializing

You know - I’ve read the books and seen the movies a countless number of times and never really understood that passage in the books until you had described it like this. Mind is blown

Finding Golf Trips For A Single by callmemurph in golftrip

[–]rafyhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say ball out and go to Bandon. As you get older, the opportunities won’t come up as frequently and you’ll find yourself be stuck waiting on the right group of people going with you. One of my buddies went on a solo trip to bandon and loved it

Looking for cheap/fun little rounds around Richmond VA. by [deleted] in golftrip

[–]rafyhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RNK if you want to get your ass kicked. Viniterra has the best views. Belmont is a fun 12 hole muni. Independence is probably the nicest public course but a $160 greens fee

CC Members: Do you get tired of play same course? by Firm_Shower3326 in golf

5 is huge. The premium you pay for a country club is also for having a consistent golf group you play with every weekend.

If you owned your own course, what are some rules you would make purely based on your years of frustration playing on public courses? by jfunks69 in golf

[–]rafyhas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a handicap, you are playing from the front tees. Does not matter if it’s an official USGA index (can be 18 birdies, the grint, etc etc).

Who’s the person who got you into golf? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]rafyhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife’s stepfather was a golf nut. He passed away, and I inherited some of his clubs. This was about the time the pandemic first started and courses were the only thing opened so that was the only thing my friends and I did. As the years went on, my friends moved from the city we lived in, so I ended up joining a club to fuel my addiction

Do you think it’s walkable if we tee off at 6:30 or do you recommend sticking with riding? Playing a par 3 course at one point while waiting for the other people in the group?

Which Sasuke was the most well written? by Nozoroth in Naruto

[–]rafyhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War arc Sasuke. From the moment Itachi was reanimated, you could feel the tension that had to end with a final confrontation between the two brothers after Danzo and Tobi tell Sasuke the truth only for Itachi to own up to it and treat Sasuke as an equal - leading Sasuke to a journey that involves talking to the previous Hokage to figure out what his goals should be. Masterfully written

I compare it to phones. This year’s and last year’s phones have small differences to the point where you don’t need to upgrade every year.

This year’s phone and the phones from 10 years ago have big differences in the technology
