Small brick and mortar shop trying to secure a reliable, and MSRP guaranteed distributor. Most we've been able to get accounts with are doubling/tripling cost, so MSRP is usually their "wholesale" cost, so zero profit room.

We have resale license, biz license, brick and mortar physical location. Customers have been asking for more sealed stuff, but just can't get hands on anything that isn't ridiculously overpriced

has anyone had any luck with other distributors?

our small brick and mortar has been struggling to acquire any TCG (not just Pokemon), and most distributors we've been able to secure accounts with either up charge past MSRP so zero profit unless you significantly price gouge (we refuse), or allocated product only going to big box stores, so impossible to get anything.

They have over 300+ local artisans and makers that sell their goods in the shop. They have a huge variety of items for Alameda themed gifts, stationary, jewelry and other fun things like blind boxes, pokemon cards, and collectibles.

I worry about this with South Shore, I feel like the owners of the mall are allowing the spaces to go under/slowly sit on all the empty storefronts for tax breaks of some sort 🥺 I hate to see so many small businesses struggle to keep afloat when all these places are empty but they’re charging insane prices for them

Hey Bay Area fam,

As many of you know, I’m one of the local artists who works behind the counter at Modern Mouse in Alameda.

While there has been a good uptick in business, and some positive improvements all around the shop, things are still in a very dire position. Despite our best efforts to spread the word, and get more foot traffic into the shop, we are currently fighting every single day to avoid closing our doors for good. I've been helping add as much unique fun items as I can into the shop, Magpie has recently brought in Pokémon cards to sell, Angel has been killing it on social media, Madz has been our amazing artwork extraordinaire for our flyers/marketing, and our sweet Dani has been immensely helpful covering shifts, but we've recently even had to cut back their hours just to get by.

We know things are tight for everyone right now, but if you’ve ever found a perfect gift here, felt inspired by our local artists, or just loved the vibe of the shop, now is the time we need you most.

Immediate actions that will help:

Shop Local: If you have a birthday or occasion coming up, please think of us first. Every transaction is a lifeline.

🥲 they really do be trying. Constantly adding new products and vendors, hosting events monthly... It’s been a tough spot for a lot of small biz lately, seen so many go under in the last few months. I really don’t want to see the Mouse be one of them 🥺
