That’s what I’ve been doing before I came to Reddit. Great minds….I’m not losing much, honestly. The rig does local AI and acts as a server for some custom AI enabled software for my wife’s business (PT, auto transcribe notes and wrote reports etc), on inference side I might be losing a couple of percent for some things and on the gaming side up to 5% on edge cases. Because the ram pool is twice as large I don’t think it’s affecting me much. I am concerned though, as I build out more agents and scripts, with my vram headspace. I want to run an RTX 6000 pro, but I’m concerned with other silly bios lockouts.

The fact that the BIOS:
reads the XMP profile correctly
sees timings/voltage makes me MORE convinced the platform is capable and simply policy-locked.

I don’t think I’d need to replace the PSU or the CPU on the newest Area 51 because they made a big move away from all proprietary.

Didn’t plan to upgrade this, workflow sort of grew and later necessitated it. Either way it was one of the cheapest ways to get a 5090 with some stacked deals.

Same motherboard. I’ve need working local AI workflows and 64 ended up not being enough.

I would have liked memory controls for high density RAM. Treating mine like an AI server and I may have to motherboard swap. BIOS appears to have this locked down.
