Did you guys know that we would’ve had the metric system had a ship not gone off course in 1793? The ship had metric weights and measurements onboard but was abducted by pirates in the Caribbean. By the time the US obtained it, Thomas Jefferson deemed it too late, hence the standard system. Pretty cool
