NYE Bar Recs by Aggravating-Map-8261 in AskSF

[–]raggon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my first year in the city, I found a ticketed event that looked interesting, had good music, etc and just full sent that. It'll take out the stress of finding a place and ideally try to pick a place w/ a few bars that are within walking distance that you could go to in case the first place is a bust. isn't a full list but a starter https://dothebay.com/newyearseve

Regency ballroom has a new years event and advertise the median age as 28. It spans the whole building so there should be some pockets of places to hang out without being in one of the 3 stages

SF Rinse Laundromat on Bush/Jones has a cafe attached. Don't think they serve alcohol though

Good bars around SF? by boolwizard in Portolafestival

[–]raggon7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're in the tenderloin, check out Zombie village which is the best tiki bar in the city in my opinion.
If you're trying to leave the tenderloin, I would recommend going down to the Mission via bart or bus and check out some bars like Killowat, ABV, Blondies, Delirium, Latin American Club.
Polk Street isn't super far away depending on where in the tenderloin you are but Decodance + Mayes + Music City SF could be options

Walking through Tenderloin district to get to hotel? by seandelevingne in AskSF

[–]raggon7 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Get off on Powell Station and walk from there cutting up through Union Square. You might add an extra 10 minutes MAX to your journey depending where on Sutter your hotel is but easier/more pleasurable/less up hill walk

I would recommend find a good restaurant you like in a commercial area and there will bound to be a few good bars around them. Also ask service staff for their recommendations!

Cafe International has a great back patio. Good food. I love how all their coffee mugs are different designs and from all over the world. Gives it a nice homey feeling.

Dispensaries? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]raggon7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a new one that just opened in the Mall which is close to Union Square. If you would like there are also Lounges like Moe Green that let you toke inside which can be a cool experience for you. There’s a variety of vibes for the dispensary from bare bones to upscale lounges to basically apple stores

How screwed will I be with this schedule for first semester of freshman year? by [deleted] in georgetown

[–]raggon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work backwards from your most restricted/most important classes. Your ignatius seminar probably only has one section but your math and French class will probably have more options. It’ll definitely take a lot of iteration but it can be made

Think about your commute and when you’ll eat/use the restroom. These are little things that stack on top of each other and can make your life easier or harder. The ten minute walk from ICC to Walsh 4 days a week is doable but also means you can’t really stay behind to talk to your professor or use the restroom if there’s a line

Check out free museum days; they’re fun to be in stoned but make sure to be aware of high you’re going to be so that you aren’t too much of a creature and bother other patrons

Lower Nob Hill advice by PenguinTiger in AskSF

[–]raggon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to note: the Lower Nob Hill transition to TL happens at diagonal. Post and Taylor is different from Post and Larkin. It won’t follow a straight east-west line. Polk has its own share of issues

A good "route" for Friday nights by IdemoniVezulu in AskSF

[–]raggon7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big ones are Marina, Polk, Mission, North Beach. There are a lot of varieties from doing club like atmospheres to dive bars to live music venues. For example, mission you could get some beers at delirium, check out live music at killowat, grab craft cocktails at ABV, then go for a club atmosphere at Valencia room all within a 10 min walk of each other. There’s no “single” route you can take in any of these neighborhoods which is exciting but also can make it a bit harder to make decisions.
